Sometimes, adding a new twist to a classic recipe is fun. I loved making BBQ chicken pizza, and now I’m taking what I love about spicy wings and making a pizza that tastes just like them! This pizza tastes so much like spicy wings that you might want to add some creamy ranch dressing to the table for dipping!

The idea behind this pizza is pretty simple. Use wing sauce instead of pizza sauce. Then, add your favorite meat and toppings. Bake it in a preheated oven and serve it. It is that easy! This is the best pizza to serve on your next pizza night. Everyone will love how the fresh mozzarella melts and the hot sauce lights up your mouth. Even the blue cheese crumbles add to the incredible flavors of this pizza.

How to Serve Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Serve with a side of celery and carrots with a Ranch dressing.

Or you can even opt to pair with a crisp green salad. Or go crazy and pair with some buffalo wings for added indulgence.

If you are a fan of buffalo wings, chances are, you’ll enjoy this pizza too. It’s delish!

    Variations and Substitutions

    • The blue cheese is optional. Use mozzarella cheese instead if you aren’t a fan of the taste.
    • You can use any pre-cooked chicken that doesn’t have a ton of spices or seasoning added to it. You can even get cooked, shredded chicken from the grocery store.
    • Instead of mozzarella cheese, use cheddar cheese. Or, add cheddar cheese with the mozzarella cheese.
    • Use regular hot sauce instead of wing sauce.
    • Use creamy blue cheese instead of blue cheese crumbles.

    Storage Instructions

You can allow your pizza to cool down and store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Or, if you have a sealable bag, you can easily place the slices flat inside and go that route. Then, store the pizza in the refrigerator for up to three days.

    Can I Freeze Leftover Pizza?

You can freeze this pizza if you don’t plan to eat it all. Just allow it to cool and then place in a freezer-friendly container. Store up to three months in the freezer. Thaw in the fridge before you go to reheat it.

Buffalo Chicken Pizza Tips and Tricks

    • Pre-bake the pizza crust. This will give you a golden brown and crispy crust.
    • Do not use raw chicken. This is a great way to use leftover chicken.
    • When you add the buffalo sauce, leave a gap around the edge. This gives you the perfect crust in this easy recipe.
    • If you have a pizza stone, use it. This will help the crust to cook evenly.

Can I Use Homemade Pizza Dough?

You can use any pizza dough you like as long as you use fresh pizza dough. Make it homemade, or use store-bought dough. The choice is up to you. I love a homemade pizza dough recipe, so have fun and make that!

    Can I Make Ahead?

Yes, you can make this ahead of time and save it to make on busy nights. Store the baked pizza in the refrigerator for up to three days. Then, reheat it in the oven.

    How To Reheat

Place the chicken on a baking sheet and heat it in the oven at 350F for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the sauce is bubbly. You can reheat it in the air fryer, too.

Why Is It Called Buffalo Sauce?

This sauce was created in Buffalo, New York. A chef created a spicy sauce to cover chicken wings. From there, Buffalo wing sauce was made to use on chicken wings. I always assumed it was because buffalo sauce carries a kick of heat. The most popular brand is Frank’s Red Hot Sauce.

    FAQ

Do I have to use blue cheese for buffalo chicken pizza?

No, you don’t have to use blue cheese for this pizza. Blue cheese is an acquired taste. I find people either love it or hate it. Keep it or leave it, depending on your taste.

What is the best buffalo sauce to use?

You can use a homemade buffalo sauce or buy your favorite brand. Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Sauce is a rather popular sauce and the one I personally use. But know there are tons of brands you can honestly buy and use.
It is all about personal preference, so buy what you like. Its strong flavor will stand out in the pizza, so quality is key. If you purchase a cheap sauce, you can taste it in your pizza.

What other toppings can I add to the pizza?

Add red onion slices to the pizza. Or add a drizzle of ranch on top of the gooey cheese. Be creative and add your favorite toppings.

How many servings does this make?

This recipe makes about six servings.

    1. This really looks delicious! I make pizza alot (too much) at home using flat bread from the deli! Buffalo chicken is an ingredient I have not tried yet. I would probably add the Franks hot sauce to pizza sauce, and then spread over the crust to make mine more kid friendly. Thanks for sharing this!

This looks delicious, it makes me feel hungry which really isn’t fair. I’d have have to substitute something else for the FRANK’S® RedHot® Buffalo Wings Sauce as I can’t eat spicy food but that would be easy enough. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
