I moan and complain about the winter, but there is one big positive that I’m reminded of every time I go into my kitchen. Winter is slow cooker season! I’m using the slow cooker at least five nights a week. I’ve only had a few slow cookers fails. Most meals turn out great!

I’ve also been keeping an eye on meat sales at our local grocery store. I’d stock up if I had a freezer, but I usually only buy enough that I know that we will eat in the next week or so. One type of meat we all enjoy is pork tenderloin. I’ve made it with honey garlic sauce as well as fresh herbs (rosemary is tasty) and also with an Asian flair! This recipe for Asian Pork Tenderloin has amazing flavor!

How Long Does it Take to Cook Asian Pork Tenderloin in Slow Cooker

The pork tenderloin itself cooks for 6 hours in the slow cooker. Get it started around lunchtime so it’s ready for supper that evening. Before serving, make the ginger glaze on the stove to serve on top of the pork. Eat it alone or serve it over some rice. Yum!

What Type Of Glaze Do You Use for Asian Pork Tenderloin

I find the glaze really brings this tenderloin to perfection. I created a homemade sauce that has lime juice, ginger, soy sauce, and more combined. The cornstarch and water will help to thicken the sauce so it helps to stick to the tenderloin.

What Does Fruit Juice Do to Meat

I used fresh lime juice in my marinade. I find that adding fresh fruit juice to meat can really help bring out vibrant and bold flavors you would miss otherwise. That is why a lot of time at Mexican restaurants you see them serve a lime wedge next to fajitas and other popular dishes. Drizzle juice over and watch flavors pop out of hiding.

Best Side Dishes for Pork Tenderloin Dish

    • Rice | Whether you whip up Jasmine, white, brown or even cauliflower rice, it is always welcome. It helps to soak up the juices and adds flavor to the dish.
    • Potatoes | Mashed, Roasted, Whole Slow Cooker Potatoes, and more. Potatoes are always a good option when you serve up pork.
    • Salad | Fresh green salad whether chopped, tossed or a classic side salad.
    • Pasta Salad | Sometimes I whip up a pasta salad to pair next to my tenderloin. I love the fresh flavors of pasta salad next to the juicy and bold flavors of the pork.
    • Roasted Vegetables | I love vegetables next to pork. You could do a hearty veggie or reach for stir fry style veggies to pair next to this tenderloin.

What Should The Internal Temp be for Pork Tenderloin

This is debatable. Some people find that eating pork at a lower temperature is fine while others want it to be well-done. The National Pork Board says that pork is done when the temperature reaches 145 degrees internal temperature.

Make sure to use a meat thermometer to check. Stick it in the center of your tenderloin and make sure to go an inch or two deep, so it really gauges the thicker part of your tenderloin.

How to Make Slow Cooker Asian Pork Tenderloin

In a bowl, you want to add in your spices and use that to rub all over your tenderloin. Once you get the pork covered, add in 1/2 cup water into the bottom of the slow cooker. Add your pork on top, and turn on low and cook for 6 hours. Once it is done, you can either slice or shred the pork.

Then for the glaze, you want to add all your ingredients except the cornstarch and 1/4 cup water in a pan. Bring to a bowl and heat over medium, and whisk so it doesn’t burn. Then in a small bowl add your cornstarch and water together and pour into the sauce, so it can help thicken. Once it is thick, spoon or pour over the tenderloin.

    Can You Overcook Pork Tenderloin

Of course. Pork is one meat you want to watch, as it becomes rather dry. Make sure that your pork is getting checked as it gets closer to that end mark. Every slow cooker cooks at different rates, so it is always best to gauge off of the internal temperature of your pork.

How to Store Leftover Asian Tenderloin

Simply allow the meat to cool slightly then transfer to an airtight container. Then store up to three days in the fridge. This is a great option for meal prepping for the week. Add in the rice and dive in, or even mashed potatoes.
