I hate letting food go to waste. You know those brown bananas sitting on your counter? Don’t throw them away. If you don’t want to put them in the freezer, you can, instead, whip up a batch of these scrumptious Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins.
I love baking muffins. They can be a quick snack or breakfast. They also double as dessert, in my opinion. These muffins are sweet, moist and flavorful. The perfect combination of bananas + chocolate.
This recipe makes approximately 18 muffins. I used pretty paper liners, but if you don’t have any don’t fret. Just grease your muffin pan and go without. Easy.
The best way to eat them, in my opinion, is when they are still warm from the oven. I like to slather my muffin with pat of butter. It melts with the chocolate chips and tender muffin crumb. OMG heaven.
Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin Ingredients
For these muffins, you’ll need the following ingredients.
- Vanilla extract
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips (You could substitute milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips, if you wish)
How to Make Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
Start by preheating the oven to 350F. Line muffin pans with paper liners. Alternatively, you could grease the muffin pan if you don’t have liners.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, vanilla and sugar. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
In another large bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Add the dry ingredients alternately with the mashed bananas into the creamed wet mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spoon the batter into the muffin pan. I like to use a cookie scoop since it’s easier.
Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving.

Can You Freeze Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
Yes, you can! If you feel like baking up a few batches, feel free to freeze some of the baked muffins for later.
