    Ingredients

    • Lean ground beef
    • Sweet onion – You can also use white onion.
    • Green pepper – Check out this hack on the easiest way to cut a bell pepper.
    • Garlic salt – Substitute a mixture of garlic powder and salt if you don’t have garlic salt. Use 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt mixed together.
    • Cream cheese – I use regular cream cheese and not the light version.
    • Sloppy joe sauce – I like the Manwich sloppy joe sauce.
    • Frozen tater tots – No need to thaw!
    • Cheddar cheese – I prefer to shred my own cheese. I find the pre-shredded cheese melts funny.

    Recipe Tips

    • Let the tater tot casserole cool slightly when you remove it from the oven. This extra time will allow the sauce to thicken up and you won’t burn your mouth.
    • Put the cheese on top in the last 5 minutes of cooking. This will allow the tater tots to get crispy while they bake and the cheese only needs a small amount of time to melt.
    • Make sure to use a 9×13 baking pan. If you use a smaller pan, you will need to adjust the ingredient amounts or risk it overflowing in your oven.

Made this for my family tonight. I made NO changes. It was well received by my family. They thought it was delicious I would like to see a little extra “sauce” but other than that, it was very tasty .We will likely make it again!
