Hodge Podge Soup
Hodge Podge Soup is a hearty soup recipe like grandma used to make. It’s a clean out your kitchen kind of meal with two cans of soup, pork and beans, ground beef and celery. Perfect for busy days!
Hodge Podge refers to a “disorderly mess’ or in the case of this recipe, “a jumble of ingredients”. At first glance, the ingredients do look a little strange, but trust me, they go together so well. Hodge Podge Soup is easy comfort food and pretty much anything goes!
The beauty of this soup recipe is you can switch out ingredients based on what’s in kitchen. I would stick to tomato based soups though. I don’t know how good cream soups would be, but you never know. Maybe it would be a winner, too.
It’s like taking a bunch of canned food from your pantry and turning them into something homemade and delicious. I love those clean out your kitchen recipes!

This is a family favorite passed down from my husband’s cousin from Massachusetts. I often wonder where she got the recipe. Another cousin would quadruple this recipe for family gatherings (which included several teens). It is one of those dishes that seem to taste better each time it is reheated. It freezes beautifully IF you have any left over.
I have made this soup with the molasses beans but found it to be a bit too sweet. I changed the beans to the ones in tomato sauce and liked it better. I want to make it again, but I have Habitat Vegetable soup, could I use it instead of the minestrone?
Yes, definitely!
