Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken
I think it’s an understatement to say that it’s a hectic time of year. The holidays are creeping closer by the day and our schedules are full. I’ve been so busy lately preparing for Christmas and still trying to manage a household. Dinner duties fall upon me so it’s my job to keep everyone fed and happy.
The good thing is that I’ve learned a few shortcuts over the years to get dinner served quickly with little effort. You need the right tools and I’ve discovered one of the best – the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker. It’s a pressure cooker, but with many extra perks!
To share with you just how versatile this handy kitchen appliance is, I’ve created the most delicious Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken you’ll ever have. My family LOVED it. I have to agree. It’s pretty darn awesome and SO SO easy.
It’s sweet. It’s savoury. The chicken is very tender and cooked to perfection. You cannot mess this recipe up, promise!
Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Ingredients
To make this recipe in your Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker, you’ll need to gather up these ingredients:
- Chicken breasts
- Teriyaki sauce
- Pineapple chunks
- Soy sauce
- Brown sugar
- Sesame oil
- Green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish
How to Make Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken
With about five minutes of prep work, you’ll have dinner cooking in no time at all!
The first step is to put the chicken, teriyaki sauce, pineapple chunks, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and brown sugar in the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker. Give it a good stir to combine.
Put the lid on the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker and close the pressure valve. Select the Poultry setting for 15 minutes. Press the Start/Stop button. It will begin to heat and then start to cook. You can take a little break to tidy up the kitchen or put your feet up and relax a little.
I used the Natural Pressure Release Method after the cooking cycle was finished. Wait 10 minutes and then flick the tab on the Steam Release Valve to the “Release” position. Once the steam has escaped and the Bobber Valve has dropped completely, open the lid.
In a small bowl, stir together the reserved pineapple juice and cornstarch. You’re going to use this mixture to thicken the sauce. Add this mixture to the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker and stir to combine.
Select Brown/Saute and stir frequently for 5 to 7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve on top of rice with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
Why Use the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker
I’ll admit I was a bit intimidated at first about using a pressure cooker as it’s not something I have a ton of experience with. I couldn’t believe how EASY it was to use the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker. Now I’m kicking myself for not jumping on the bandwagon sooner. I love how simple it is to operate and was so impressed at the quality of the recipes it makes.
First of all, it saves me time – something I’m short on lately as I’m sure many of you can relate. I love being able to throw all my ingredients in and let dinner prepare itself.
It’s also a better option than going out to eat. Take-out adds up and is hard on a family’s budget. I buy take-out when I’m feeling lazy. With the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker, I think you’ll find with the minimal effort to make dinner, you’ll be eating take-out less often. We definitely are.
Did I mention how versatile the Crock-Pot® 6Qt Express Crock Multi-Cooker is? Check out the different ways of cooking it offers:
- Pressure cooker
- Slow cooker
Use it to make your holiday appetizers, soups, vegetable dishes, meats and even dessert all year long.
Mine has made its permanent home on my kitchen counter because I anticipate trying out many more recipes with it. I’m excited to really dive in to this new way of cooking.
What to Serve with Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken
I recommend serving with rice. I added the rice to each serving bowl first and then topped with the Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken. The sauce will soak into the rice adding loads of flavour.
Feel free to use green onions and sesame seeds for garnish. They are completely optional though so don’t worry if you don’t have any on hand.
Can You Freeze Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken
Yes, you can freeze Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken. Prepare the recipe according to the directions below in the recipe card and then place in a freezer safe container. Store for up to three months.
