Chicken Bundles
My kids absolutely LOVE these easy-peasy chicken bundles. The creamy chicken salad in this recipe is surrounded by a flaky, golden dough pocket that makes everything moist and super-delicious!
It’s almost like a tiny makeshift pie with a perfectly crispy top! Oh, and did I mention that it’s perfect for using up leftover chicken?
If you’ve never heard of chicken bundles, let me quickly fill you in. They’re essentially chicken salad stuffed inside crescent roll dough. So, the prep work is minimal.
I’ve always found them a family crowd-pleaser as they don’t require any complicated ingredients or flavors, but are still super filling. Better yet, they’re not spicy and ideal for holiday parties as they’re ready in a flash!
Whether you’re looking for a potluck pleaser or an easy weeknight meal for the family, these chicken bundles are THE recipe to try.
Why You’ll Love These Chicken Bundles
- They’re perfect for kids as they’re not spicy but are packed with delicious, savory flavors!
- The prep time is minimal (and the whole recipe couldn’t be easier!) thanks to the crescent roll dough.
- The cream cheese gives the recipe a creamy texture that you just can’t beat.
- Adding butter gives the filling a divine indulgence that’ll have you reaching for bundle after bundle!
Ingredients
The full printable recipe card with measurements and instructions is found at the bottom of the post.
- Chicken breasts: You can also use any boneless leftover chicken you have!
- Cream cheese: Key for getting a perfectly creamy filling. I recommend using full-fat cheese for a creamier result, but low-fat works too if you’re trying to cut calories.
- Salt and pepper: To add flavor to the salad mix and give your chicken bundles more oomph.
- Green onions: For extra crispiness and a tiny pop of color and crunch.
- Butter: For getting a rich and indulgent flavor into your chicken bundles!
- Crescent roll dough: You can technically make your own dough, but this ingredient makes the cooking process ridiculously easy.
How to Make Chicken Bundles
- Step One: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Step Two: In a bowl, mix cream cheese with melted butter.
- Step Three: Add chicken, salt, pepper and green onions and mix well.
- Step Four: Separate the crescent roll dough into rectangles and seal the perforations.
- Step Five: Spoon ¼ cup of the chicken mixture into the center of each crescent roll. Pull the 4 corners to the center and seal edges.
- Step Six: Brush the tops with melted butter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Step Seven: Bake the chicken bundles for 19 minutes or until golden brown.
- Step Eight: Serve warm or cold and enjoy with your favorite sides!
Equipment Needed
You don’t need much equipment to bring these chicken bundles to life. I recommend grabbing these handy kitchen tools if you don’t already have them (trust me, they make this recipe a breeze!).

What to Serve with Chicken Bundles
I love eating these chicken bundles on their own, but they also pair well with starchy sides, salads, or veggies!
Recipe Tips and Tricks
- Make sure your cream cheese is fully defrosted before using it in this recipe. This will make it far easier to combine with the rest of the ingredients. It will also help you avoid a lumpy filling.
- I recommend using unsalted butter in this recipe if you can. Although you can use salted butter, you may want to control the amount of salt in the recipe to avoid over-seasoning.
- If you can find them, try to find crescent roll dough sheets. This will cut down your prep time as they’ll be the perfect shape for creating your bundles!
Variations and Substitutions
- If you want to make your chicken bundles taste like a pot pie, you can reduce the amount of chicken and throw in some veggies. I like carrot, peas, and corn, but virtually any veggies would work! Just make sure they’re not too “wet” as they might alter the texture of your crescent roll dough.
- You can change the flavor profile of your chicken bundles by seasoning the salad mix differently. Try fajita mix, Creole seasoning, lemon, or even a dash of hot sauce for something new!
- To add some extra flavor to this recipe, you can add a small amount of garlic powder and dried herbs. Don’t go overboard – just a dash is fine!
- If you want a bit of extra crunch, put a few panko breadcrumbs on top of your bundles.
Storage Instructions
These chicken bundles can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and heated up in the microwave until warmed through.
If you want to keep them as crispy as possible, put them in the oven for a few minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can I Freeze?
These chicken bundles will stay tasty in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Wrap the bundles in plastic wrap or put them in a freezer-safe container before placing them in the freezer.
When you’re ready to eat them, take your chicken bundles out the night before and defrost them in the fridge.
You can then reheat them as normal.
