  • All-purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Baking powder
  • Kosher salt – Use 1/2 teaspoon table salt if you don’t have kosher salt.
  • Buttermilk
  • Eggs

  • Powdered sugar

How to Make Red Velvet Waffles from Scratch

    Step One: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. 

    Step Two: In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.

    Step Three: Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

    Step Four: Preheat your waffle maker according to manufacturer instructions and grease the waffle maker with cooking spray.

    Step Five: Pour about a half cup of the batter (amounts may vary depending on the size of your waffle maker) and cook until the waffle maker timer is completed (about 3 minutes).

    Step Six: Carefully remove the waffle from the waffle maker and set aside on a plate. Repeat with remaining batter. 

    Step Seven: Serve waffles warm with cream cheese topping, pecans and fresh fruit.

    How to Make Cream Cheese Topping

    Step One: In a large mixing bowl, mix together with a mixer the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

    Step Two: Add in the powdered sugar gradually until combined.

    Step Three: Add in the milk and combine. Set aside.

    Red Velvet Waffles

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup sugar
    • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 4 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp kosher salt
    • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk
    • 2 eggs lightly beaten
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled slightly
    • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tbsp red food coloring

    Cream Cheese Topping

    • 4 oz cream cheese softened
    • 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened
    • 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ½ cup milk
