Can Gluten Free Bisquick be substituted??
I haven’t tried it personally, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Shocked to find a recipe that gives no seasoning suggestions at all. No salt and pepper?? No garlic powder??
Hey I make this pie but I changed the recipe for the meat mixture because you are correct in saying that it doesnt have much flavor. My grandmother used to make it this way except using a real pie crust and it is surprisingly delicious. If you try it let me know! You wont be sorry.
Add only 1/2 envelope onion soup mix
1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
1 can campbells vegetable soup, undiluted
1 tbsp steak spice steak spice
1 carrot, grated
1 potato, grated.
1/4 c water
Fry ground beef, spices, onion soup mix, potato, & carrot until beef is cooked through.
Add in 1 can of veggie soup and simmer for 5 mins (until liquid evaporates a little and meat mixture tightens up a little). Remove from heat and make the recipe as written out.
This impossible cheeseburger pie needs more flavor even though I decided to use an entire pkg of taco seasoning. Not sure what to add to it next time, however. Any ideas out there???
I added from the start 3 cloves garlic & S&P. Stick with the onion soup mix to get that cheeseburger taste which I thought was delicious. If you still want the taco burger taste, add cilantro, cumin, garlic, and of course S&P.
How much milk and why isn’t it in the ingredients list
Hi Gina, it is in the list – it says 1 cup milk. It’s found right after the cheddar cheese in the recipe card.
If using 2# ground beef do u double everything else?
If you’re using 2lb of ground beef instead of the 1lb, I would only double the onions since it goes in with the beef. Everything else should be fine.
Can this be made in the crock pot if you cook the ground beef first?
Hi Jenn,
I’ve never made it in a crockpot so I’m sure. I think it would work though. I would cook the ground beef first.
Is this a WW recipe if so how do we count it?
Sorry, I’m not familiar with WW. I don’t think it is one though.
I made this last night for super very easy & delicious.
Have made similar cheeseburger pies and find chopped dill pickles are a game changer in flavor.
I’m going to make this right in the skillet that I brown the beef in…..it’s 10″ so a little thinner “pie”. I am low carb so I want to omit the bisquick and sub in something else? Anybody have any good suggestions what to use? Almond flour, or I’ll look up an almond flour bisquick sub recipe. I will have to make homemade soup mix, or in some of the suggestions maybe just season it well. Odd that people are saying it has no flavor.
