Chocolate Chip Cookie Coffee Milkshake

This Chocolate Chip Coffee Milkshake is the best pick-me-up for a hot summer day. It’s made with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream blended with freshly brewed coffee, then served topped with chocolate sauce and whip!

Nothing beats kicking back in the hot summer sun with a cold drink in your hand. Fruity drinks are great, but I’m partial to my cup of coffee. However, when it’s 40ºC with the humidex, the last thing I want is something hot.

So, of course, I created the most decadent, rich, refreshing, and delicious summertime drink. It looks and tastes fancy, but really isn’t.

This Chocolate Chip Cookie Coffee Milkshake is one you can make as a quick treat for yourself or as an impressive sweet for your friends. You can’t go wrong!

    • Coffee: I recommend freshly brewed coffee for the best flavor.
    • Chocolate Sauce: You’ll use the chocolate sauce to rim the serving glass.
    • Chocolate Chip Cookies: Use your favorite homemade variety or keep it easy with store-bought chocolate chip cookies.

What to Serve with a Chocolate Chip Coffee Milkshake

You can, of course, enjoy this coffee milkshake all on its own, but it also makes a great addition to a snack or breakfast spread. Here are a few recipes you can pair it with:

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Use freshly brewed coffee. The flavor really is just best when it’s fresh!
    • Let the coffee cool slightly. If it’s scalding hot when you mix it with the ice cream, it will just melt it.
    • Don’t over-blend. Blending too much can start to warm and melt the ice cream.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • Not freshly brewed coffee? You can swap it out for cold brew instead.
    • Use homemade cookies. It’s definitely quicker with store-bought cookies, but if you’re feeling particularly ambitious, whip up a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies instead.
    • Make it decaf. Just brew a pot of decaf coffee instead! You still get the java flavor without the kick of caffeine.

    Storage Instructions

I don’t recommend storing this coffee milkshake for later. It is best served right away!

Do Coffee Milkshakes Have Coffee in Them?

Yes! Traditional milkshakes are thinned out using milk. Coffee milkshakes are thinned out using coffee in place of the milk!

Can You Make a Milkshake with a Frother?

If that’s all you have on hand, then yes. However, I do recommend a high speed blender if you have one available to you. It ensures that the milkshake gets smooth and creamy without over-blending.
