Serve alongside your other favorite dessert recipes to create an impressive spread.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • Nutty Delight: Add chopped nuts, such as walnuts, pecans, or almonds, to the brownie batter for an extra crunch and flavor. This will create an exciting textural experience and the perfect brownie.
    • Chocolate Lovers: Mix in chocolate chips or chunks for a burst of chocolate goodness in every bite. If you love your brownies super chocolatey, this is a great choice.
    • Fruit Infusion: Add dried fruits like chopped dried cherries, cranberries, or raisins to the batter for a sweet and tangy twist. The dried fruits will pair well with the salted caramel flavor.
    • Minty Freshness: Incorporate peppermint extract into the brownie batter and top with crushed candy canes or mint chocolate chips for a refreshing holiday-inspired treat. This is a fun dessert variation for Christmas time.
    • Caramel Swirl: Instead of pouring the Dulce de Leche on top, swirl it into the brownie batter for a marbled effect.
    • Homemade Caramel: Use your homemade caramel sauce instead of dulce de leche. Using your caramel recipe can add a whole different dimension of flavor to your brownies.
    • Sea Salt Options: Try different types of flaky sea salt, such as Himalayan pink salt or smoked sea salt, to add a distinct flavor to your homemade brownies.

    Storage Instructions

If you have leftovers of this delicious, decadent dessert, you can easily store them for later. For best results, place your cooled brownies in an airtight container and place them in the refrigerator. These brownies will keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days.

    Can I Freeze?

Yes absolutely. If you want to batch-cook these and store them in the freezer for later, you can. Place the brownies in an airtight container and store them in the freezer for up to a month.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Use Quality Ingredients: Ensure you use high-quality chocolate to make these brownies. The better the quality of the chocolate you use, the richer your brownies will be. They will outperform a boxed mix.
    • Keep Ingredients at Room Temp: Bring your eggs to room temperature before incorporating them into your brownie batter. Cold eggs can cause your batter to seize or result in uneven mixing.
    • Mix Properly: When you add the melted chocolate and melted butter to the egg mixture, do so gradually. You want to continuously mix to prevent the eggs from scrambling due to the heat of the chocolate and butter mixture.
    • Sift the Dry Ingredients: Before adding your dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, ensure they are sifted together. This will prevent lumps and allow you to mix the ingredients evenly.
    • Don’t Overmix: Once you have added the dry ingredients, mix them until they are well combined. Overmixing can result in dense brownies.
    • Test Their Doneness: When testing your brownies to see if they are finished baking, the cocktail stick should come out with a few moist crumbs. If you get wet batter, they are not done yet.
    • Baking Time: If you want underdone, gooey brownies, reduce the baking time to 20 minutes. If you prefer chewy brownies set all the way through, increase the baking time to 40 minutes.
    • Be Mindful of the Salt: Use a light touch when sprinkling sea salt on top. You can always add more if needed, but removing if you have too much is challenging.

    Why are my Brownies Dry?

There could be several reasons that your brownies are dry. You either overbaked them, used incorrect measurements, overmixed them, or used low-quality ingredients. For amazing brownies, pay close attention to the cooking time and ingredient measurements. You also want to ensure you are not overmixing the batter or using low-quality ingredients.

Why are my Brownies So Gooey?

Your brownies could be overly gooey for several different reasons. They could be underbaked, the oven wasn’t set to the right temperature, you used the wrong pan, or you didn’t allow them to cool sufficiently. To ensure that your brownies are not overly gooey, it is essential to bake them for the correct amount of time, check the oven temperature, use the right pan, and allow them to cool for a sufficient period.

Why are My Brownies So Dense?

If you find these turned out to be overly dense, cake-like brownies, there could be a few reasons. Overmixing, using too much flour, and using poor-quality chocolate can all contribute to overly dense brownies. For the best brownies, make sure to avoid those things.

How to Know When Brownies are Done

When you check them with a cocktail stick, your brownies are done baking, which comes out with moist crumbs. You don’t want the stick to be clean, but you don’t want it to be wet with batter.
