What type of pan is needed to make monkey bread

You’ll need either a bundt pan or a fluted cake pan to make monkey bread. These pans will give the recipe its classic round shape. You’ll also have a spot in the middle to be able to put your dipping sauce.

If you don’t have a bundt pan or a fluted cake pan, you can use a 9×13 casserole dish. The baking time will change, however, as the dough will not be as thick and won’t require as long of baking time.

Bake at 350F for about 25 to 30 minutes.

Can you prepare ahead of time?

Yes, you can prep this recipe ahead of time. Do all the steps up to the point that you are ready to bake. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate. When you are ready to bake, remove from the fridge and let sit on the counter while the oven preheats. Bake as normal.

    Storage Tips

Wrap any uneaten portions of Pizza Monkey Bread in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to three days. I recommend popping it in the microwave before serving so it softens up a bit.

For the very best results, enjoy freshly baked right from the oven.

    Can You Freeze Monkey Bread?

Yes, you can! Bake the recipe and let it cool completely. Make sure to remove it from the bundt pan. Wrap it in aluminum foil and freeze for up to three months.

Let it thaw overnight before serving and reheat in the oven.

    Recipe Variations

    • Add more toppings! Try cooked bacon or sausage, red peppers, green peppers, mushrooms or whatever other pizza ingredients you like.
    • Use a different kind of cheese. I like mozzarella because it’s typically what you put on a pizza. You could switch it up with cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese.
    • Use Ranch dressing as the dipping sauce. Even Caesar dressing works. Yum!
    • Use refrigerated biscuits instead of Grands Crescent Rolls. Cut the biscuits into quarters and follow the recipe.

Why is it called Monkey Bread?

It’s called monkey bread because you eat it with your hands like a monkey would! Pretty simple, right?

I remember when I first heard about monkey bread wondering what the heck was this about. I wouldn’t want to eat a monkey. I laughed when I discovered what it actually was.

    1. Thank you sooo much, this is amazing, taking this the next time all the family gets together. They will love it. Gail

    2. Gail A Mosher says:

Does this require TWO (2) 12oz cans of 2 cans Pillsbury Grands Crescent Rolls, or a total of 12oz ?

      1. Use two cans. The size of the cans are 12oz so it would be 24oz in total. I have a photo in the post as well with what I used.
