    Variations and Substitutions

    • Try crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy peanut butter.
    • You can use 5 cups of Cheerios if you can’t find Golden Grahams or Honey Graham Toasters.
    • Use corn syrup or maple syrup instead of honey.
    • Add in chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for extra decadence.
    • Use almond butter or cashew butter instead of peanut butter.
    • Add a few tablespoons of cocoa powder to make a chocolatey treat.
    • Try other varieties of Cheerios like regular Cheerios, Chocolate Cheerios or Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios.
    • Natural peanut butter can be used if you don’t want them too sweet.

    Storage Instructions

Store the Cheerio Balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

You can also freeze them! Wrap them in plastic wrap and then again in aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 60 days. Eat them frozen or thaw them out in the fridge – your choice!

Can You Make Them Into Cheerios Squares?

Yes! You can make them into bars/squares if you like. I find the balls the easiest to work with, but squares will also be good. They’ll be similar to the traditional Rice Krispie Treats.

Make sure you grease a 9×13 inch pan and then add the mixture to the pan, pressing down to compact it. Let it sit at room temperature to harden and then cut into squares.
