There are just a handful of simple ingredients in this easy casserole. Here is what you’ll need before you begin.

    • Deli Ham – Thin slices will work best when adding them to the croissants.
    • Mini Croissants – The croissants should have already been baked.
    • Swiss Cheese – The cheese can be sliced as thin or thick as you like.
    • Eggs – This will combine with the heavy cream and mustard to make the croissants bake beautifully.

What to Serve with Ham and Swiss Croissant Bake

Though it’s a big meal, you might like to serve this delicious breakfast casserole with other sides. Here are some of my favorite ones.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • You can switch out the cheese for whatever flavor you prefer. Try it with white cheddar cheese.
    • Bake it with full-size croissants. The size of the croissants won’t affect the flavor of the casserole.
    • Use leftover spiral honey ham. It’s better to slice it thin if you can.
    • Top with a dollop of sour cream and chopped green onions.
    • Make ham and cheese sliders. Skip the step where you soak the croissants in cream and egg, add the ham and Swiss, and bake it.
    • Change the meat. Use your favorite type of deli meat. Try it with roast beef.
    • Use sweet Hawaiian rolls instead of croissants.

    Storage Instructions

Store leftover easy ham casserole in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. For best results, eat your leftover ham casserole within three days.

This hearty ham breakfast casserole is freezer-friendly, too. Cover the freezer-safe dish with plastic wrap and foil and store in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw before serving. Then, reheat it in the oven and serve it hot.

Ham and Swiss Croissant Bake Tips and Tricks

    • Grease the baking dish first so that the croissants don’t stick. An easy way to do this is to melt butter and spread it on the bottom of the baking dish.
    • Use as much ham as you like.
    • Use your favorite dairy-free milk alternative if you need it to be dairy-free.
    • Don’t forget to let it set overnight. This is essential because it allows the croissants to soak up the egg mixture.

    Can I Make Ahead?

Yes, this is a great recipe to make ahead of your meal or event. Follow the printable recipe card instructions and stop right before it tells you to bake it. Please keep it in the refrigerator until about an hour before your meal. It takes about 45 minutes to bake and tastes best when you serve the creamy ham casserole fresh.

    FAQ

How do you make it spicier?

To make the ham & swiss casserole spicier, add some red pepper flakes to the egg mixture. This will infuse heat into the croissants.

Should I use hot ham, or can I use cold leftovers?

The ham doesn’t need to be hot before you add it to the casserole. You’ll store it in the refrigerator before you bake it.

How many servings does this make?

This recipe makes about ten servings, depending on how big you slice it.
