    • Step One: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the stew beef. You do not need to worry about cooking the beef through; we are just looking for color.
    • Step Two: To your slow cooker, add the stew beef, mushrooms, onion, butter, garlic, beef broth, salt, and pepper.
    • Step Three: Stir to combine.
    • Step Four: Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours. 
    • Step Five: You can serve this as is or use a slotted spoon to transfer the beef and mushrooms to a hot skillet to get some color on them.
    • Step Six: Serve.

    • Large Skillet – Use a large skillet to hold all of the steak bites without overcrowding the pan. 
    • Slow Cooker – Use at least a 5-quart slow cooker. 
    • Slotted Spoon – You’ll need a spoon to remove the steak and mushrooms to make a gravy out of the remaining juices.

    Tender and juicy steak bites are slow cooked to perfection with mushrooms and onions. Serve your family this delicious weeknight meal with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

    Ingredients
     
     

    • 2 lb stew beef
    • 8 oz white mushrooms
    • ½ white onion chopped
    • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 3 cloves garlic minced
    • ¾ cup beef broth
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp black pepper

    Instructions

    • Add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to a large skillet over medium high heat. Add stew beef and toss to brown. You don't need to cook it through. Just cook it enough to give it some color.
    • Add the stew beef, mushrooms, onion, butter, garlic beef broth, salt and pepper to a 6 to 8 quart slow cooker. Stir to combine.
    • Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours. Serve hot.
