This sausage breakfast pizza has only six ingredients.
- Breakfast Sausage – Use mild or spicy pork sausage as the topping for the pizza.
- Flour – This thickens the gravy, so use your favorite all-purpose flour.
- Salt and Pepper – Flavor the gravy as much or as little as you like.
- Milk – This is for the gravy. You can use nonfat milk, part skim milk, or whole milk.
- Mozzarella Cheese – Cheese is essential for pizza, and mozzarella melts beautifully.
- Crescent Rolls – This is the pizza crust.

What to Serve with It
This is a fun breakfast to serve with fresh fruit. It doesn’t need much else on the side, but you can try these to make breakfast more filling.
Variations and Substitutions
- Instead of mozzarella cheese, use cheddar cheese.
- For a leaner pizza, use turkey sausage.
- Use pizza sauce instead of making white gravy.
- Use refrigerated pizza dough or homemade pizza dough instead of crescent rolls.
- Add scrambled eggs on top of the pizza.
Storage Instructions
Store school breakfast pizza in the fridge, covered in an airtight container. The leftover pizza will be fresh for up to 3 days.
Recipe Tips and Tricks
- Make it ahead of time. Then, all you have to do is heat it in the microwave.
- Add additional toppings. Sprinkle some bell peppers on top.
- Use plenty of cheese. Try it with some Monterey Jack cheese for a little kick.
- Add some green onions on top for some color and flavor.
Other Pizza Crust Options
The crust is the easiest part of this easy breakfast pizza to change. Try it with a homemade whole-grain crust to get more folic acid from the whole grains.
Since it’s topped with sausage gravy, use biscuit dough as the crust. Now you have a biscuits and gravy pizza. Homemade pizza dough or refrigerated pizza dough are both fantastic options, too. Pre-baked pizza dough (including gluten-free options) will taste delicious with the gravy.
Can I Use a Different Type of Sausage?
Yes, you can use any breakfast sausage that you want. Since I topped the pizza with breakfast or country gravy, I suggest using a sausage that you can cook and crumble instead of links. If all you have are links, chop or slice them and mix them into the gravy. It will still taste amazing.
FAQ
Prepare the pizza as directed and let it cool to room temperature. Then, store it in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
Feel free to make extra by doubling or tripling the recipe to freeze for later.
The temperature and baking time will be about the same in the air fryer as in the oven. Use a baking tray and air fry the pizza at 350F for about 15 minutes. If the crust isn’t cooked, check on it and air fry for another 10 minutes.
