I used simple ingredients that are easy to find at the grocery store. Here’s more information about what you’ll need before you begin.

    • Unsalted Butter – You’ll use this to saute the peppers and onion, so make sure it’s unsalted.
    • Red Bell Pepper – The peppers add color and dietary fiber to the meal.
    • Green Bell Pepper – Green peppers are essential to Philly cheesesteak sandwiches.
    • Yellow Onion – The caramelized onions will add sweetness to the squares.
    • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – This is the base and topping of the easy squares.
    • Mayo – Real mayonnaise adds a zesty flavor to the sauce.
    • Garlic Cloves – Fresh garlic cloves are more aromatic than garlic powder.
    • Dijon Mustard – This adds a sweetness to the sauce.
    • Kosher Salt – The salt enhances all the other flavors.
    • Ground Black Pepper – This adds boldness to the entire recipe.
    • Deli Roast Beef – Make sure it’s sliced extra thin so it’s easier to eat.
    • Provolone Cheese – Thinly sliced cheese melts faster and tastes better.
    • Eggs – This is for the egg wash on top of the squares.
    • Grated Parmesan Cheese – Add this on top of the crust, giving it a delicious finish.

    FAQ

    What is a Philly Cheesesteak?

An authentic Philly cheesesteak is a sandwich normally made with thinly sliced ribeye steak, sauteed peppers and onions, melted cheese, and hoagie rolls.

What cut of beef do you usually use in Philly Cheesesteak?

This varies from cook to cook, but most people will use either ribeye steak, flank steak, or roast beef. Lean meat leaves less grease in the sandwich, and it’s usually served thinly sliced. The steak mixture is added to the sautéed peppers and topped with melty cheese.

How many servings does this make?

This recipe makes about twelve servings.
