Cereal Milk Popsicles

I’ve always wanted to try Momofuku’s incredible cereal milk ice cream, but I’ve never quite found an excuse to trek down to New York City just for dessert. But I’ve found something that’s just as good – cereal milk popsicles that are ready in a flash and are equally creamy and delicious! Oh, and did I mention that these bad boys will save you the cost of a plane ticket? Talk about a win-win.

I used to adore sugar-based cereals when I was a kid. Coco Pops, Fruit Loops, Honey Nut Cheerios. You name it, I was properly downing it for breakfast. But these days? I stick to Special K or Cornflakes for a quick and easy breakfast bite. I know, it’s not exciting but I don’t have the same metabolism I used to!

When I’m looking to relive that incredible feeling of shoveling down a bowl of sugary cereal before the school bus arrived, I’ll whip up these cereal milk popsicles. They’re so simple to make and are unbelievably tasty.

I once made these bad boys when the kids were away on a trip. They were meant to be a treat for when they got back, but I ate nearly all of them myself. Don’t worry though – I just saw it as an excuse to make more!

What to Serve with Cereal Milk Popsicles

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Don’t forget to sieve the cereal. Although you can put small amounts of cereal into your popsicles, you won’t want to have mushy chunks of cereal in your final product.
    • Don’t skimp on steeping time. You’ll want to get the flavor of your chosen cereal infused into the milk. So, make sure you leave the mixture to steep for the correct amount of time.
    • Don’t buy a super-cheap mold. If you’re buying tiny plastic molds that are on the flimsy side, you’re not going to be able to wiggle your popsicles out properly. Buy one that’s a decent size and constructed with high-quality materials.
    • Stir everything by hand. You don’t want to crush your cereal at any point, so stir everything in by hand to avoid your cereal breaking apart.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • If you want to add a touch of crunch to these popsicles, feel free to crumble small amounts of any cereal into the mix before freezing (instead of putting it on top!).
    • You can switch out the full-fat milk for low-fat varieties. Just know that they won’t be quite as creamy or delicious as the full-fat versions!
    • If your kids adore color, don’t be afraid to drop a bit of food coloring into your mixture. Pastel pink or blue popsicles are always fun!

    Storage Instructions

You can leave these popsicles inside their molds if you’re planning to eat them within a couple of days. However, you can also store them inside plastic freezer bags or containers to avoid them sticking together.

    Can I Freeze?

You can totally freeze these Cereal Milk Popsicles – in fact, you’ll need to (or they won’t set)! Just remember to eat them within 2 months of freezing to avoid freezer burn or any funky textures.
