Christmas Salad
They say the holidays are never a good time to start a new diet. There is just too much food around and I know that I cannot resist.
That’s what New Year’s is for! Christmas Salad is one of those delicious recipes that graces our family’s table.
It’s called Christmas Salad because the ingredients have all the colours of Christmas!
Christmas Salad
This fresh, bright salad is made with broccoli, cauliflower, red onion and cherry tomatoes mixed with a creamy dressing. It’s the kind of salad you want to heap on your plate. It’s so good! I love each crisp, crunchy and creamy bite.
Christmas is my favourite time of year. Giving and receiving gifts feels wonderful and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces when they open their presents.
Most of all, I love all that food! I enjoy spending time in the kitchen with my family preparing recipes. It’s a time of lots of laughs and togetherness. Family and making memories.
This Christmas Salad is easy to prepare and you can make it ahead of time and leave it in the fridge. I brought it to our last family gathering and everyone raved about how good it was.
It gave my mom’s Pineapple Cheese Salad a run for her money.
How to Make Christmas Salad
Grab a big salad bowl and add in the broccoli, red onion, cauliflower and cherry tomatoes.
In another bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream and sugar. Pour over the veggies and toss until everything is coated with the dressing. Put in the fridge for a minimum of one hour to marinate. Serve chilled.

If you would have served me this Christmas Salad 30 years ago, I would have balked and run for the hills. I hated all vegetables with a passion. I wouldn’t even try them.
Fast forward to today and I cannot get enough of them. I don’t know what happened. It was like a veggie hating switch flicked when I turned 20 years old.
I feel bad for all the trouble I gave my mom at the dinner table as a child. Sorry Mom!

Great salad
We loved this recipe !!!! Will be made again and again !!
Loved this!! Makes a beautiful dish and really well liked by those who may want more than a lettuce salad. Definitely plan to make it again!!
This salad was a big hit at Christmas dinner. I will be making again.
Thank you
Excellent used for party on Dec. 20th and another for Christmas Dinner
I was a little iffy about making this for a club I belong to, as a side dish. I made a double batch and it went like hot cakes.
We really liked it. Easy to make and very healthy. We felt something was missing even though followed recipe. I used apple cider and right amunt of sugar, Maybe a little more sugar? Your picture of the salad was very enticing. definitely making it again.
Love the recipe. Its so yummy and easy to prepare. My familly love it.
I am wanting to make this for a family Christmas but wondered how much in advance I could mix everything. I have to work the day of and wondered if I mixed it in the morning if it would be ok for dinner time. Thank you in advance!
Yes, you can make it up to a day in advance and store it covered in the fridge.
Could you add cheese tortolini and if so should I increase amount of dressing
I would make a little extra dressing just in case!
Looks so yummy!
I would leave out the sugar, and add one tablespoon ranch dressing powder mix. Or two tablespoons green olive juice with a couple chopped olives.
Would definitely add some apple cider vinegar to the marinade.
Excellent
I would like the measurements of the dressing for the Christmas salad please
It’s in the recipe card right above the comment section here.
I have not made it yet.
I had a similar salad at a work banquet, I usually hate raw broccoli and cauliflower, but I tried it and loved it! After scarfing down the first serving, I went back for seconds, this time trying to taste every ingredient so I could replicate the recipe. I knew the veggies, but the dressing took some thinking, I was pretty sure there was cottage cheese in the dressing because it was a little chunky. Your recipe is the closest to what I was looking for, but I add cottage cheese to the dressing, and it’s very, very close to what I wanted. Thank you!
This was and is a favorite from my house. Sometimes I add a little cheddar cheese but not much.
Maybe you could try adding grated Parmesan cheese (to your taste) to the sauce if you want more flavor
