TikTok Chicken Cobbler with Cheddar Bay Biscuits
TikTok Chicken Cobbler is creamy, cozy comfort food made with shredded chicken, mixed vegetables, and a buttery Cheddar Bay biscuit topping. Everything bakes together in one dish, and the biscuit layer soaks up some of that creamy chicken filling underneath. I can definitely see why this one went viral.

I already love Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay biscuits, so when I saw people using the biscuit mix to make the viral TikTok Chicken Cobbler, I knew I had to try it. They’re one of the best parts about going to Red Lobster. I can never stop at just one.
The whole layering method also caught my attention because you don’t stir anything together. It reminded me of making a dump cake, where you layer everything in the pan and trust that it will come together in the oven.
I wasn’t completely convinced, but I left it alone, and somehow it all came together beautifully.
My version is inspired by the viral recipe, but I made a few small changes, including adding garlic powder, onion powder, and poultry seasoning, and using a little less chicken broth to make the filling thicker. Veldon said it reminded him of shepherd’s pie, which surprised me because I thought it was much closer to chicken pot pie.
Ingredients
The full printable recipe card with measurements and instructions is found at the bottom of the post.
- Salted butter: Melted butter goes into the bottom of the baking dish and helps make the casserole rich and flavorful.
- Cooked shredded chicken: Rotisserie chicken works really well here and makes this recipe even easier.
- Frozen mixed vegetables: No need to thaw them first. I like a classic mix with peas, carrots, corn, and green beans.
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Poultry seasoning
- Black pepper
- Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuit mix: This is what gives the cobbler its cheesy, buttery biscuit topping. Use the seasoning packet from the box too.
- Milk: Whisked with the biscuit mix to make the topping. Whole milk or 2% both work well.
- Cream of chicken soup: Makes the filling creamy and helps everything thicken as it bakes.
- Chicken broth: I use a little less than some TikTok Chicken Cobbler versions, so the filling comes out thicker and less soupy.
- Fresh parsley: Optional, but it adds a little color before serving.

How to Make TikTok Chicken Cobbler
- Step One: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Step Two: Add the shredded chicken in an even layer over the butter. Scatter the frozen vegetables over top.
- Step Three: Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, poultry seasoning, and black pepper evenly over the chicken and vegetables.

- Step Four: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the biscuit mix, the seasoning packet, and milk until combined. Slowly pour it over the chicken and vegetables. Do not stir.
- Step Five: In the same bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup and chicken broth until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the biscuit layer. Do not stir.
- Step Six: Bake uncovered for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Step Seven: Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with parsley, if desired.

What I Learned Making This Recipe
- Don’t stir the layers. It feels a little strange, especially when you pour the soup mixture over the biscuit batter, but leave it alone. The layers come together as it bakes.
- A little less broth makes a big difference. I preferred the filling with 1 ½ cups of chicken broth because it came out thicker and creamier, not too soupy.
- The extra seasoning is worth it. The Cheddar Bay mix has plenty of flavor, but seasoning the chicken and vegetables adds flavor to the whole casserole, not just the topping.
- Let it rest before serving. Those 10 minutes give the filling time to thicken up, so it’s much easier to scoop.
- Give the top enough time to brown. Mine needed close to an hour to get nicely golden on top and bubbling around the edges.

Variations and Substitutions
- Use turkey instead of chicken. Leftover cooked turkey works just as well and would be a great way to use up Thanksgiving leftovers.
- Change up the vegetables. Use your favorite frozen vegetable blend, or stick with just peas and carrots for a more classic chicken pot pie feel.
- Try a different condensed soup. Cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup can replace the cream of chicken if that’s what you have on hand.
- Add cheese. Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the chicken and vegetables before adding the biscuit mixture for extra cheese.
- Use leftover cooked vegetables. You can swap in cooked carrots, peas, green beans, or corn. Just avoid adding too much extra liquid.
- Switch up the seasoning. Thyme, sage, or a little extra poultry seasoning all work well if you want to lean even more into that chicken pot pie flavor.

Storage Instructions
- Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
- Freezer: Freeze leftovers for up to 2 months. Keep in mind that the biscuit topping may be a little softer after thawing.
- Reheating: Reheat individual portions in the microwave until hot, or warm a larger portion in a 350°F oven until heated through.
- Make ahead: I prefer baking this one fresh rather than assembling it too far ahead, since the biscuit mixture can start soaking up the liquid before it goes into the oven.
