How to Clean Patio Furniture

We store our patio furniture in the garage during the winter. It’s definitely seen better days, but for now it will have to do. Add on the wear and tear from a move from Nova Scotia to Ontario and you can imagine how it looks now. The white chairs were now a grimy brownish/grey. John said that they were fine, but I thought they looked so gross. No way was I sitting in them like that and let alone have guests sit there. Ick!

If your patio furniture needs a little TLC like mine, don’t fret! There’s a simple way to clean and get it looking as good as new. You may already have this product in your home for your laundry. OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover Powder is for much more than just your clothes. It tackles stains of many shapes, sizes and on multiple surfaces. It’s no surprise that it’s Canada’s #1 trusted stain fighter. It can used on unfinished decks, carpet, upholstery, kitchen and bath surfaces and even your gutters! Who knew?! Note that when you use it on metal surfaces, make sure to rinse it well and right away. And yes, it also cleans patio furniture.

Love the versatility of OxiClean. Sounds easy enough. Will have to try. I wash mine every season and they get grimy. Power cleaners are hard to find tough enough without a lot of rough scrubbing. This sounds better.

Would Oxi Clean also clean patio cushions? Our cushions r in great shape, but the sun has gotten to them a little and in some areas they r just a little faded. Thank you for any help you can give me.

      1. Sorry for the delay! I wanted to check with the brand first before I answered. Here was the response:

OxiClean is safe and can be used for patio furniture. That being said, faded/bleached cushions by the sun cannot be revived by the products.

Thanks for the FB reminder about this post. It’s that time of year again, and I really like the refresher on getting the job done. Oxi Clean is a great product with lots of uses in cleaning and we definitely want clean patio furniture for laying out.

    5. Does this work on solid wood and rattan? I’ve got a large garden table and lounge set that need cleaning Thanks. Oh I’m in the Netherlands and I think 9ur equivalent is Vanish.

    6. I saw that you mentioned it would not be used on cushions to revive color but can it be used to get the mold/mildew out of the cushions? I’m desperate!

      1. Hi Allison,

Apologies for the delay! I checked with my contact for the brand and was told this: OxiClean’s Versatile Stain Remover will remove the mold/mildew, but won’t necessarily kill it.

        1. OK thank you! I’m not even sure what is really on my cushionsthey are a light khaki color but when they get wet, black stuff shows up. They are dumbbells so it is a little surprising to me. I can wash the covers but I’m afraid I won’t be able to get the inserts back in afterwards!

    7. Wouldn’t boxing the cushion turn it in to a soaked sponge?
