My friend, Crissy, has been sharing all these luscious looking healthy and homemade ice cream recipes lately. I thought it would fun to share one for fall too. The key to dairy-free ice cream is frozen bananas! They give it a creamy ice cream-like consistency that not only tastes great but is guilt-free too. Add in a little bit o pumpkin puree, Pumpkin Pie Spice, and maple syrup and voilà! Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream. Now if that isn’t a fall flavour, then I don’t know what is.

For equipment, use your food processor or blender. No ice cream maker required. I don’t even own one anyway! All you need is something to work fast at whipping it up, and either a food processor or blender is the perfect accessory.

How Much Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Does this Recipe Make

Now has is that for decadence? SO SO GOOD! This recipe serves two adults, but if you’re especially hungry, you may want to eat it all yourself. Don’t worry, I won’t judge.

I’m working on more pumpkin recipes this month. When I told you to prepare for pumpkin everything in my post about Pumpkin Pie Spice I meant it. I live for this time of year and am always sad to see it end. Mostly, it will be pumpkin desserts, but you never know, I may have a savoury pumpkin recipe to share. We’ll see.

How is this a Dairy-Free Ice Cream Recipe

You use pumpkin puree and frozen bananas to give this ice cream the creamy texture. I have had banana ice cream in the past and it is really tasty. Add in the pumpkin flavor and boy this is one incredible dessert you don’t have to feel guilty about.

How to Make Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream without Ice Cream Machine

Add your ingredients into your food processor or blender and whip until nice and creamy. Then pour into a glass container and toss in the freezer. Once hardened you can then grab your ice cream scoop and dive in!

Can I Double this Ice Cream Recipe

Of course! You are welcome to make as much as you would like. Just ensure you have room in your blender or food processor. Or batch make it, and then pour into containers and toss in the freezer.

How Long Will Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Store in Freezer

If you store the ice cream properly you can store it in the freezer for up to three months. Just scoop and enjoy. We eat ours rather fast, so it has never lasted that long. But this is also a small-batch dessert, so I normally only make what we will eat at the time.

Why Use Frozen Bananas for Ice Cream

You need to have your bananas frozen or you won’t get that creamy ice cream texture. If you use ripe fresh bananas that are room temperature it will be mushy vs creamy like you want. So don’t skip the time to toss those bananas in the freezer.

I tend to just slice and freeze any bananas that are close to going to the overripe realm. Then when I get a craving for something sweet I can whip up this ice cream in a hurry.

What Can I Use in Place of Maple Syrup in Recipe

If you don’t want to use maple syrup you could reach for honey or even agave liquid to use. This is what is going to help add a sweetness to your ice cream recipe. Feel free to play around with the amount of agave you need in terms of sweetness if you want to replace the maple syrup.
