You won't believe how easy it is to whip up the best Peppermint Bark at home! With layers of creamy chocolate and white chocolate sprinkled with crushed candy canes, this festive treat is a holiday staple that everyone adores.
Line the bottom and sides of a small baking sheet or 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Set aside.
Crush candy canes by placing them in a sealed plastic bag and hitting them gently with a rolling pin.
Place half of the white chocolate and ½ teaspoon of coconut oil in a small microwavable bowl. Place in the microwave and melt in 20 second increments, stirring in between, until smooth. Do not overheat. It should only take about 3 or 4 increments.
Once melted, sitr in ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract. Pour the melted white chocolate into the prepared baking pan and spread into a smooth layer. Place in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes, until nearly set.
Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips and ½ teaspoon of coconut oil in a microwavable bowl. Place in the microwave and melt in 20 second increments, stirring after each increment. Do not overheat. It should only take about 3 or 4 increments.
Once melted, stir in ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract. Pour over white chocolate layer and smooth out quickly. Place in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes, until nearly set.
Place the remaining white chocolate and ½ teaspoon of coconut oil in a small microwavable bowl. Place in the microwave and melt in 20 second increments, stirring in between, until smooth.
Pour the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate layer and smooth out quickly.
Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top.
Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Once set, remove the pan and peel away the parchment paper. Cut or break into pieces.
