Maple BBQ Sauce

Instructions
Add all ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat.
Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Let cool before using. It thickens more as it sits.

Yields: 1
½ cups.
Serving size: 2 tablespoons.
Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for the best flavor.
The sauce will look slightly thin when hot but thickens as it cools.
For a spicier sauce, add cayenne pepper, hot sauce, or red pepper flakes to taste.
Brush the sauce onto grilled meat during the last few minutes of cooking so the sugars do not burn.
Use it as a glaze for chicken, pork, ribs, salmon, or meatloaf. It is also delicious stirred into baked beans or served as a dipping sauce.
Store cooled sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
