Instructions
Heat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in apple butter, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined (don’t overmix).
Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon until smooth. Pour over the cooled cake before serving.
Notes
Extra indulgence:
Add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter for crunch.
Frosting option:
Instead of glaze, top with cream cheese frosting for a richer finish.
Make it spiced:
Swap apple cider for maple syrup in the glaze for another layer of fall flavor.
