I assumed wrong about the show, Teen Wolf. I don’t know why I thought it would like the movie from the 80’s starring Michael J. Fox. Sure, I liked the movie, but didn’t think it would make a good TV series. I ended up sitting down to watch Teen Wolf: Season Two on DVD and was blown away how good it was. Some of the characters do have the same names as the ones from the original movie. However, that’s where the resemblance stops. Whereas Teen Wolf (the movie) was not scary or suspenseful, Teen Wolf (the show) is fast-paced, edge of your seat kind of suspense. Think Vampire Diaries only better!
Remember I hadn’t seen Season 1 so I went in practically blind about what happened in the previous episodes. Thankfully, John watched the show and filled me in on a couple things, but for the most part, I was able to immerse myself fairly quickly into season two without being too confused.
Scott is the main character of the show and he is in a secret relationship with Allison Argent. Allison’s family are werewolf hunters so their romance is forbidden. It was sweet to watch them sneak moments here and there and I really liked them as a couple. Scott is considered an Omega, aka a lone wolf, since he does not belong to a pack. His best friend is Stiles, who is quirky and funny (like the best friend from the original movie). Then there’s Jackson, the team captain of the lacrosse and Lydia, the kooky and kinda creepy girl who is immune to a werewolf bite.
There’s a reptilian creature on the loose in Beacon Hills and it’s killing people. Scott and his friends, the Argents and Derek and his wolf pack are trying to find it before it can kill more people. This creature is very strong and has the power to paralyze you with just a flick of venom. The viewer also doesn’t know much about the creature and who in town it actually is. It’s very suspenseful leading up to where we learn the person it is and the backstory behind it.
The way Season Two ends makes me want to watch Season Three now! I can’t wait to see what happens next to my favourite characters. I guess for now though to satisfy my Teen Wolf craving, I’ll go back and watch Season One to see what I missed!
