Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie

A Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie is an incredibly easy, creamy, breakfast recipe, made with nutritious ingredients that everyone will enjoy. Fruity strawberries, milk, a few other ingredients, and just a few minutes is all you need to whip up this tasty treat.

This Vanilla Strawberry Smoothie is so good, it’s almost like drinking your dessert without having all the guilt you’d get from a milkshake or a bowl of ice cream.

Smoothies are easy places to get in an extra serving of veggies or fruit for those picky eaters without them even knowing. It’s one of my favorite ways to get the kiddos to get an extra dose of spinach without them making faces.

It’s easy to make this a dairy-free recipe, we’ve already made the substitution suggestions for you, check them out below.

Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie

  • It’s decadent, almost dessert like, yet has so many amazing nutritional benefits
  • Satisfying, creamy and thick
  • Perfect breakfast recipe to hold you over until lunch, or a fast pick-me-up snack throughout the day

What to Serve with Homemade Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie

    Variations and Substitutions

    • You can use fresh or frozen strawberries.
    • Add in other berries like raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc to really bring a delicious taste.
    • You can use silken tofu in place of the yogurt to make it a dairy-free recipe.
    • Use a dairy-free yogurt alternative if you can’t find silken tofu but want to make this vegan.
    • You may also use a Greek yogurt instead of a plain yogurt in this.
    • Feel free to use soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, or other milk alternatives in place of cow’s milk if wanting a dairy free or vegan recipe.
    • You can serve this smoothie with whipped cream and sliced strawberries as a garnish if you like.
    • Work in veggies like spinach, kale, frozen cauliflower, or even zucchini. Keep in mind the water content of other ingredients you add in, this may change the consistency and you may need to alter it in the end.

    How to Store DIY Smoothies

A Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie is best when first made. I don’t recommend trying to keep it longer than a day as it could become watery or runny depending on what ingredients you used.

You can store it in the fridge, but keep these thoughts in mind for optimal freshness.

    Can You Freeze?

You can try to freeze this recipe, it may separate a bit from the dairy, when you go to thaw it out depending on which ingredient options you chose. I don’t recommend doing it if you’re looking to keep the smoothie texture just how you make it originally.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • I like to use frozen fruit in smoothies because it makes it naturally cold. If you only have fresh strawberries, add a little bit of ice in your blender.
    • For more strawberry flavour, add more berries or use a strawberry yogurt instead of plain.
    • Silken tofu makes it thick and creamy and takes on the flavour of whatever you put in your smoothie. You won’t even know it’s there (and neither will the kids!). It adds a nice protein punch to your morning.
    • Start using your blender at a low speed and work your way up in speed so it blends all your ingredients efficiently and appropriately.

What Does A Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie Do for Your Body?

This Vanilla Strawberry smoothie provides your body with many benefits. It provides a healthy source of fiber, many vitamins, minerals and provides some anti-inflammatory benefits.

How to Thicken Your Strawberry Smoothie

If you have a liquidy smoothie instead of a creamy, thick Strawberry Vanilla one, you can add some more frozen strawberries, or even frozen banana chunks, as a natural thickening agent.

You can add more ice chunks to bring more texture to your smoothie too. And if really in a pinch, add bananas, avocado, peanut butter, or other nut butter to thicken your homemade smoothie recipe. Just remember that adding other ingredients to thicken it up will change the taste of your smoothie.

How to Thin Out Your Vanilla Strawberry Smoothie

If your Strawberry Vanilla Smoothie recipe is too thick to drink through a straw, you can add more milk or water to thin it out in the blender. You may also use coconut water, but this may alter the taste.

What Else Can You Add In?

If you’re looking to change things up with this recipe, you certainly can. Here are some ideas to add in: any other smoothie ingredients like chia seeds, apple cider vinegar, protein powder, chopped nuts, oats, granola, collage, flax seeds, etc.

    Can I Double This Recipe?

Absolutely! If you’re looking to make a bigger batch of Strawberry Vanilla Smoothies, you can increase the quantities and make more smoothies with this easy smoothie recipe. Make sure not to overload your blender though.

I suggest using a pitcher to store some in if your blender is getting too full too quickly. You can store them in the fridge if you need to serve them all together, but remember, they’re best served right away for the most optimal texture and to keep them bursting with flavour.
