Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups
These fun dirt pudding cups are dressed up spooky for your Halloween parties or a sweet fall treat. Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups are so simple to make that even the kids can help!
I love this time of year. The weather is finally cooler, pumpkin spice is in full force (hello pumpkin spice lattes!) and Halloween is quickly approaching.
As a child, Halloween was my second favorite holiday of the year (behind Christmas). Our school always had a big Halloween classroom party where kids would dress up in their spooky costumes and enjoy fun treats like these easy pumpkin patch dirt cups!
Don’t worry there is no actual dirt in this special treat. The dirt layer is actually crushed Oreo cookies. They look pretty believable though, right? Kids LOVE them and it’s a fun family activity where they can help assemble them to enjoy at home or as a classroom snack for a Halloween party.
These adorable pumpkin patch pudding dirt cups are made with layers of chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding that’s been colored with food coloring, Oreo crumbs, gummy worms and topped with pumpkin candies and bone candies. You can serve it in clear plastic cups so it’s easily transported or in parfait dishes. The perfect fall treat!

Variations and Substitutions
- Instead of instant pudding, use your own homemade pudding recipe. You’ll want a chocolate pudding and a white colored pudding that you can make orange with food coloring. It doesn’t necessarily have to be vanilla. You could also use white chocolate pudding.
- Switch out the vanilla pudding. If you want a pudding that’s naturally orange, use pumpkin pudding.
- Change up the dirt. Instead of using chocolate cookie crumbs, try crushed chocolate graham crackers.
- Get a little more fancy. Use green frosting on top of the dirt cup to create vines and stems for the candy pumpkins.
- Try different candies for the top. Even candy corn or green sprinkles will work. Use whatever Halloween candies you have.
Storage Instructions
You can make these dirt cups up to a day in advance and store them in the fridge. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Recipe Tips
- This recipe makes 4 dirt cups, but can easily be doubled to create a bigger dirt cup or more dirt cups if feeding a crowd.
- To make the orange colored vanilla pudding, use 4 drops of red food coloring and 5 drops of yellow food coloring. You don’t need to buy orange food coloring if you already have yellow and red at home.
- Go to your local bulk food store and buy Halloween candies. You can pick out what you need and don’t have to buy a big bag.
