I’m envious of the bloggers I’ve seen who post their weekly meal plans. I always think to myself that it’s something that I should be doing too. Then I think to myself that meal planning is too complicated and I wouldn’t even know where to start. It would be nice to be more organized. I hate trying to find something to eat only to find that there’s no ingredients in the house to make a healthy meal for my family.
I’ve been a long time reader of Crystal & Co and love her site. She’s got some great recipes and craft tutorials and of course, her meal plan. I always think when I read her site that some day I will get around to doing one too. I learned that Crystal wrote a book with people like me in mind called How to Meal Plan: A Step by Step Guide for Busy Moms. I read the whole thing in one sitting and found her advice both practical and valuable.
The book teaches you how to meal plan in 5 steps and includes:
- a list of 20 sites to find recipes on
- how to create a grocery list (with 10 resources and tools)
- 12 ideas for displaying your menu
- pointers for implementing your plan
- tips to follow when road blocks arrive
- 5 free printable worksheets that have been custom-made for this eBook
- 14 easy recipes for two weeks of dinner ideas
- an awesome list of 10+ mommy resources for other potential problem areas in your life
I like how she broke it down into simple tasks that do not take much time to do at all. I was wrong to think that meal planning was some crazy complicated process. It’s really not that hard at all the way Crystal has it set out in her book. She even teaches you how to make a grocery list and how to shop so you always have on hand what you need to make your meals.
I love all the printables she includes like the shopping list, recipe list and more. It’s nice to have something visual to go off when you are learning how to do something. The printables really help bring the whole process together.
The book ends with Crystal’s favourite recipes- ones that are hits with her family. They look like ones my family will enjoy too and I’m looking forward to trying them out.

I know exactly what you mean. I’ve always wanted to plan out meals for the week, but I’ve maybe only done it once. This book sounds like it would be extremely helpful in doing it on a more regular basis.

I wish I could meal plan as well. I admire and am quite envious of those that can. They make it look easy, even though I know it requires careful planning. For me it’s a goal that I might have to really think about and focus initially and then maybe, by sheer luck, get a hang of it. This book would probably help me greatly in my endeavor!
