Last month I had the opportunity to try some delicious truffles from MarieBelle, the Frangelico Truffle. Included with the truffle box was a recipe for a cocktail mix, called Frangelico. I hadn’t heard of this cocktail before, but soon learned that it is served in many bars across the United States.
The Frangelico Truffle cocktail is a dessert cocktail, and goes well with chocolate, especially the Frangelico Truffles (I’d eaten my entire box by the time the cocktail mix had arrived, however.) The drink is simple to make, and only has 3 ingredients:
- 1 oz. SKYY Vodka
- 1 oz. Frangelico
- ¾ oz. Espresso
Shake these ingredients with ice and serve in a martini glass or cocktail glass. Sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top.
We served up the Frangelico Truffle Cocktails after dinner on Christmas day at my parents’ house. 3 of us at dinner that night sampled the cocktails. I normally drink espresso that is well mixed into a 12 oz. or a 16 oz. coffee drink, so the flavor of the espresso was just a bit overwhelming for me. The Frangelico Truffle Cocktails definitely have a punch to them! If you’re not used to drinking espresso, this drink will probably be an acquired taste. I tasted the espresso and vodka flavors more than the Frangelico, however. I’d love to try this drink again sometime, maybe adjusting the recipe a little to see if less espresso makes a difference for me.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, you may want to impress your sweetie with your bartending skills and serve up this drink. The combination of coffee, chocolate, and vodka is perfect for coffee enthusiasts and chocoholics!
