We’re entering that time of year when it can be hard to make the best food choices. Between Thanksgiving and the holidays, and the cold winter weather that begs for making comfort food, it can be easy to fall into some unhealthy eating habits. But thanks to Farmbox Direct, you can get on and stay on a healthy track all year long, with the convenience of fresh good-for-you food delivered right to your front door!
Farmbox Direct was started by Ashley Tyrner, who grew up with a family of farmers and with fresh healthy food. From a young age she was able to appreciate the benefits of local, fresh, organic foods, and that’s exactly why she started Farmbox Direct. Being a busy mom, she knows it can be hard to get out to a farmer’s market every week to get the freshest produce available, so she created this business to bring the farmer’s market to your doorstep – she personally hand picks every farm, artisan, and vendor to fulfill orders. And if it’s not USDA Certified Organic, Farmbox doesn’t carry it!
Getting started with Farmbox is easy – all you have to do is visit their website and plug in your zip code to make sure they deliver to your area. Once you do that, all you have to do is decide what size box is the best fit for your family. Boxes start at $36.95 and include a variety of products to make multiple healthy meals. They also offer the option to add on products to your order.
Farmbox Direct sent me a Medium Box for review. When I opened the box, I noticed the cold liner was branded Cheesecake Factory – I was a little confused until I read the welcome letter that explained that Farmbox had bought out Cheesecake Factory’s extra inventory of biodegradable liners to use in their boxes in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint – how neat is that! I love a company that shows it cares for the environment.
In the box was such a fantastic assortment of fruits and veggies – Brussels sprouts, green beans, fresh cranberries, potatoes, apples, carrots, oranges, and more. Having arrived a few days before Thanksgiving, we had big plans for the cranberries.
We combined them with some orange rinds, some clover, and a cinnamon stick to create a wonderful fresh dressing for our turkey. If you haven’t had a fresh cranberry sauce, you are missing out – you’ll never go back to canned!
The carrots were the perfect addition to a hearty stew we made over the weekend, and my boys devoured the fruit as after-school snacks.
This box makes it easy to incorporate fresh veggies into your meals, and it’s great to have a variety of fruits on hand for healthy snacking. I love that all of the fruits and veggies in the box we received were fresh, organic, and ready to use (no more second guessing at the grocery store). I’m ready for another delivery! The medium box I was sent sells for $47.95.
