Any parent who has girls knows that one day their little girl is going to grow up and experience all the fun stuff that comes along with being a woman. As a parent of two girls, I am very aware of this with my oldest daughter, Olivia who will be 11 this summer. She is growing up right before my eyes. I knew it was soon time to have “the talk” with her to explain all the changes happening to her body and try to help her understand and not be freaked out by it. I was happy to be able to find Dot Girl First Period Products whose focus is for every girl to have a positive first period experience.
Dot Girl First Period Products was founded by Terri and Kathy, two sisters who were both moms with girls. They came up with the concept because they knew how difficult it was for their own mom to talk to them about the changes their bodies were experiencing. They wanted to reach out to help parents out there who are feeling nervous or awkward about talking about menstruation with their daughters. Their main goal is to provide parents with the tools to make the experience more positive and with much less anxiety.
This is a company that gives back and I thought it was wonderful to learn that Dot Girl First Period Products donates $1 from every sale of The Dot Girls First Period Kit to the Central Asia Institute (CAI). This charity’s mission is to support education (especially for girls) in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. I love a company with a social conscience!
Besides the Period Kit, they also sell bras and disposable underwear for girls, Scensibles disposal bags and books.
Dot Girl First Period Products sent me The Dot Girls First Period Kit for my review. I decided that it definitely was time to talk to my daughter. I had never known how to bring up the subject with her before. I didn’t want to freak her out or have my words come out the wrong way. I was grateful to have this kit in my arsenal to finally get the job done.

I gave Olivia the kit and told her to check it out and let me know if she had any questions. She read through the guide and then came back to me and said “some of the stuff in the book is already happening to me”. She said she liked that it answered many of the questions she had about things she noticed going on in her body that she didn’t understand and was too embarrassed to ask about. She also liked that she would be prepared when the day comes and it has helped her feel more at ease and less anxious.
I thought this product was great and wished there had been something like this when I was younger. It has everything you need and I think being prepared is half the battle! I can breathe a sigh of relief that Olivia and I had “the talk” and it wasn’t as uncomfortable as I thought.
You can purchase the Dot Girl First Period Kitfrom their website for $23.99.
Overall, I love the Dot Girl First Period Kit and am so glad that I got the chance to receive one. I recommend this product to all parents of little girls out there so it can help you out too!
