Title: The Weird Sisters
Author: Eleanor Brown
This is my first taste of this author, and I will begin by saying I hope it isn’t my last! I found her writing very refreshing, funny, and very enjoyable to read! This book really needs to be on this year’s book club lists for sure!
Faced with a problem with their mom, each of the three girls was forced to look at themselves in a different manor. The sisters were named after something Shakespearean related, which in itself is a stigma when you are growing up. As mom was going through the things she was, each of the girls was going through things of their own, but not telling anyone about those things. Dad was also going through stuff of his own, especially because his wife has breast cancer…so this in itself was something that affected him in ways he couldn’t explain to anyone else. The storyline keeps going through the relationship the girls forge with each other, while they are dealing with things they need to. Some of the stuff is not so good, stealing and an unplanned pregnancy to name a couple!
This story will make you laugh your “you know what off” at times, and then will make you tear up at others. Awesome book, one every sister should read, whether they have a good relationship or not!
