Having been in the work world for 20 years, I wish I had this book when I was starting out. It gives tips from interviews to promotions, handling co-workers and supervisors and bosses. Some of it is common sense… good manners are good things, being clean is better than being coming to work straight from the gym and smelly.
It has lots of tips for interacting with the people around you, how to look good to your boss in a way that your supervisor has to agree with, without ticking off the supervisor. It covers applying for a promotion, how to research the job you’re trying for and checking out the competition. Not only that, but how to make yourself look better than the competition without trashing them and making yourself look bad.
If you’re just starting out in a competitive work environment or have only been around for a couple of years, this book would be a good investment. For me, well, I’ve broken quite a few of the rules already. Veterans of the work world, maybe not the book for you, unless you’re planning on starting over in a new industry. Thumbs up!
I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this novel.*
