I’m SUCH a foodie! Okay, when I say I’m a foodie, I don’t mean that I actually like to cook, but I LOVE to eat! I’ve been a fan of Taste of Home magazine for a long time so the thought of trying out some of the recipes in the Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook would be an interesting experience!
What I’ve always loved about Taste of Home is that the recipes come from an extensive panel of home cooks from the United States and Canada. I expected this cookbook to contain recipes from around these countries but I found there was a lot more to this cookbook! On top of an amazing array of recipes, this cookbook also contained a number of inspirational weight-loss stories, some practical articles of various aspects of the weight loss process (including articles on the attributes of water, exercising and tips for eating out) as well as a six-week meal program. I really enjoyed these articles because they reinforced things I knew (but don’t always remember to incorporate into my daily life) and I learned some new things as well!
The recipe aspect of this cookbook ticked all the boxes for me in terms of a great cookbook! It was divided in a really practical way (including sections on Snacks, Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners and Desserts) and organized by the caloric content of the servings within each section. The ingredients were practical – the recipes did not involve crazy items that I would never be able to find – and there is a photograph to accompany each of the recipes!
The recipes I’ve tried have been tasty and I never would have realized that they were part of a “diet” cookbook if I would have eaten them at someone else’s home!
If you are watching your weight, or trying to find some interesting new recipes, I’d highly recommend the Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook. It has made my summer eating healthier and is playing a huge role for me in my weight-loss journey!
