It’s Day 14 of the meme, All About Me in 30 Days. Today’s topic is a non-fiction book that I like. The first non-fiction book that comes to mind that has been a HUGE help to me is a book called, The V Bookby Dr. Elizabeth Gunther Stewart. When I first started suffering with pelvic pain, it was VERY extreme and sooo bad. I will get more into my story next month during V Awareness Week. This book was a light at the end of a dark tunnel for me. I had no clue what was happening with my body nor did countless doctors. I am over being embarrassed by this condition and I look forward to getting my story out. It’s been 5 years of suffering in silence and I don’t care who knows now.
I picked up The V Book: A Doctor’s Guide to Complete Vulvovaginal Health at Chapters and read the chapter on Vulvodynia over and over until it was ingrained in my head. I needed to understand why this pain was happening and what I could do to make it better. Armed with the recommendations in the book, I went to my family doctor and asked (or more accurately told) him to prescribe me the medications Dr. Stewart recommended.
This is a book that every woman should have especially those suffering with pelvic pain. I refer back to my book all the time!
