Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday that the kids were getting out of school? Now they are heading back and I’m not sure where the time went! Getting back into a routine is key to saving your sanity. My oldest daughter, Olivia, is heading into her second year of university and my youngest daughter, Bridget, is starting high school. Eek! Saying life is crazy right now is a huge understatement.
The good news is that it isn’t hard to get into a routine right now for back to school. Get organized and take care of yourself so you’ll have the energy to deal with the chaos that always happens this time of year.
Easy Ways to Get into a Routine for Back to School
1. Make sleep a priority. We all know that we do better with a full night’s sleep. I recommend getting to bed at a decent hour and setting your alarm to wake up early. I’m in bed usually by 9 or 10 pm and up at 6 am. I find I feel much more rested and less cranky when I follow this sleep routine. I’m not as cranky anymore!
2. Plan quick, healthy breakfasts. The last thing I want to do every day is prepare an elaborate breakfast or worse, skipping breakfast altogether. I recently added Jamieson Essentials™ plus Protein to my morning routine and have been loving all the benefits these delicious and convenient shakes offer. I have loads of energy to tackle my day and I can feel good about making healthy choices.
Did you know that Jamieson Essentials™ plus Protein is the only protein supplement with all four recommended Jamieson Essentials™? They contain all the essentials including 100% Multivitamin, 600 IU Vitamin D3, 1 billion CFUs Probiotic and 350mg Omega-3 from Flax, plus 20 g of protein per serving. They come in three mouthwatering flavours: Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla and Berries & Cream. Yum!
Though all the flavours are delicious, my personal favourite is the Berries & Cream. I made a Berry Banana Smoothie using the Berries & Cream flavour, fresh strawberries, banana, milk and ice. It has just the right amount of sweetness and satisfies my morning hunger. I’m also getting important nutrients that my body needs to keep me on track. I need all the help I can get right now as I manage two girls going off to school again.
Look for Jamieson products at your local drug, grocery or mass retailers including Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Walmart, Safeway, Co-Op and Sobeys.
3. Don’t forget to take a little “Me Time”. It’s easy to forget about your own needs when you are so busy helping the kids. I schedule in “Me Time” every day. It can be as simple as taking a hot bath or reading a book. It helps me to relax and recharge, so I’m better equipped to tackle whatever life throws at me!
