Growing up Italian in New York, I can say with pride that I know a good pasta sauce when I taste it! I’m always up to try new pasta sauces (especially homemade), and was excited to be given the opportunity to try some sauces from Jerry’s Gourmet in Engelwood, New Jersey.
I received two sauces from Jerry’s Gourmet for review, and I have to tell you, they know how to make a GREAT sauce! But before I get to the taste, I think it’s important to point out that all of Jerry’s homemade sauces are made in small batches to ensure quality and consistency, and they use no preservatives. Their ingredients are fresh and natural, and that really comes across in the taste. We started out with the simple Marinara Sauce on some fresh fusulli pasta. Usually I like a little grated parmesan with my pasta, but after tasting the marinara sauce as it was cooking, I knew I didn’t need it. The flavor of this sauce is so crisp and fresh and adds tremendous flavor to every bite of pasta and bread ( because you have to dip the bread!). Besides the Marinara Sauce, Jerry’s also offers a robust Filetto di Pomodoro sauce which they also sent along for review, as well as Puttanesca, Fra Diavolo, and Vodka sauces. Jars start at only $3.49 each.
There’s more to Jerry’s Gourmet than just sauces – on the website you’ll find a great assortment of cheeses, wines, pastas, and sweets. They even make gift baskets – and with the holidays coming up quick, I think a gift basket from Jerry’s Homemade would make the perfect gift for any foodie in your life. I’m quite impressed with all Jerry’s has to offer, and I’m going to have to make the trek to the other side of the George Washington Bridge to pick up some goodies for myself!
Jerry’s Gourmet has a long history that started when founder Jerry Turci started a wholesaling cosmetics and fragrance business in New York in 1972. Fast forward to today, and you’ll see a thriving business that has taken the next step in growth with their e-commerce site.
