Cupcakes and Mini Cakes is a baker’s delight! I enjoy baking for my family even if I only just sample my creations. I’m watching my waistline! This book is an excellent resource for anyone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen making delicious treats.
I liked how it shared images and information about baking equipment. Often times I’ll see a product in a store and wonder how it’s used. I don’t have many of these fancy gadgets…yet.
It also showcases a variety of baking techniques like how to pipe icing on a cupcake so it looks pretty and how to make cake pops. I’ve struggled with cake pops in the past, but after checking out this book, I may give them another shot.
In terms of recipes, you’ll find chapters on Cupcakes and Muffins, Mini Cakes and Cake Pops, Mini bakes and Bars and Patisserie and Tarts.
Each recipe has a beautiful full page colour photo so you can see what the recipe “should” look like. Don’t forget these are professionally photographed and styled! I prefer cookbooks that share photos because I usually look at the pictures first before reading what the recipe is.
Another handy feature I liked was it listed if the recipe was freezer-friendly and how long it will keep in the freezer. I know many people freeze baked goods so this will be important info to have for them.
I’m going to make you hungry now. Here’s a peek at some of the recipes!
- Mini banana and chocolate topped cheesecakes
- Chocolate and toffee shortbread
- Chocolate brittle
- Danish pastries
- Strawberries and cream macarons
- Apple and almond galettes
