Planty: The Smartest Herb Pot Ever
For whatever reason, I’ve never had any luck with plants in my home. I’ve purchased herb gardens already growing only to have the plants all die weeks later. I even had a cactus and my husband was positive that it would be able to survive my black thumb. It lasted the longest of all the plants I’ve owned, but eventually it died too. I resigned myself to the fact that plants hate me and I don’t know why. Was I watering them too much or not enough? I have no idea. Right now the only plants I have in my house are the plastic kind.
The idea of me ever having my own indoor herb garden seemed very unlikely until I learned about a revolutionary new product called Planty – the world’s smartest herb pot.
Planty is unlike any herb pot I’ve ever seen before. It’s allows you to remotely monitor and water the plants you grow in them via a smartphone app. There really is an app for just about everything these days!
I like that it’s simple and easy to use. Add water to it and plug it in and you are good to go. If you want to swap out the cartridge type pot, you can do so in mere seconds.
Planty not only provides the space to grow herbs, but it also helps you to learn how to grow them. A regular herb garden cannot tell you why all your herbs died. You can wonder and guess, but you’ll never know for sure what exactly happened. Planty records all the data generated while you are growing your plant. If you’re plant didn’t make it, you can learn from this data and know what you can do differently next time. Planty helps you to analyze this information so you can try a different approach. It’s a bit like having a friend with a green thumb come over and give you advice. This is EXACTLY what I need. I want to learn from my mistakes and finally be able to grow SOMETHING!
Another cool features is that you can manage your plants remotely with your smartphone. You can monitor and water your plant when you’re not home and it even allows you to adjust the lighting and room temperature. It saves you from having to ask someone to come over to your place to water your plants every day when you’re out of town.
Planty was developed by n.thing based out of Korea and you’ll be able to find Planty on Kickstarter next year. Maybe there is hope for me yet? I’d be interested in giving Planty a whirl once it’s launched. An herb garden may be a not too distant dream for me!
