Silk Creamy Cashew is New in Canada

When it comes to trying new foods and drinks, I’m always willing to try anything at least once. I like to think of myself as an “early adopter” and I’ve found many products that are now staples in my home because of my open-minded attitude. I heard that Silk Creamy Cashew was new on Canadian grocery store shelves and I knew that I had to try it out. I’m glad I did because it’s delicious!

I’ve enjoyed other nut milks, but had never seen cashew milk before. I’m a fan of the nut themselves so I figured it was a safe bet that I’d probably enjoy Silk’s new product. Silk CreamyCashew is smooth and creamy with a hint of nuttiness. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and found myself reaching for a glass on it’s own to drink. It tastes delicious served ice cold.

I also like the fact that it has 33% less calories than skim milk. With only 60 calories a serving, I don’t worry about having an extra glass or two now and then. It also is an excellent source of calcium and Vitamin D and has just as much calcium in it as regular dairy milk.

As I mentioned, Silk Creamy Cashew is yummy to drink on its own. I started adding a few spices to my glass to see how it would taste. I think I’ve found a healthier alternative to egg nog. Add a pinch of nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice to your glass of Silk Creamy Cashew. The spices give it a festive flavour without all those extra calories of regular egg nog.

You can also use Silk Creamy Cashew in your creamier recipes. Try it in mashed potatoes (or cauliflower), ice cream, smoothies, soups, sauces and more. I sometimes add a splash to my coffee for a different kind of flavour.

I found Silk Creamy Cashew in the dairy section at our local Walmart Supercentre. Check out this list of where to buy Silk in Canada. Next time you are out grocery shopping pick up some and try it out.
