My sister and I were discussing vacuums during her visit to Pembroke last month. I was telling her all about my new Dyson Digital Slim DC62 Animal vacuum and how awesome it is. After years of using a heavy, corded vacuum that only worked 50% of the time, I was ready for a change. My sister exclaimed how my new Dyson was the exact vacuum she was looking at buying and could she possibly have mine? I told her no way. I was too much in love with mine!
The Dyson Digital Slim DC62 Animal is my first ever experience using a cordless vacuum. One of the things I dislike about corded vacuums is always running over the cord when I’m vacuuming. I’ve even tripped over it a number of times and hurt myself. Who knew vacuuming could be so hazardous? I also don’t have to worry about finding a plug and no more tripping or stepping on a cord that always seems to be in the way. I simply remove the Dyson Digital Slim DC62 Animal from its docking station and get down to business!
This is no regular cordless vacuum. I mean it’s a Dyson which is a name I always have associated with a quality product. It contains a V6 motor that was made specifically for it giving this vacuum 1.5 times more power than the previous motor. The V6 motor spins at 110,000rpm and has a 4-pole magnet. It also has 3 times more suction than other cordless vacuum thanks to it’s powerful Dyson motor, 2 Tier Radial cyclones and a re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery. What that means in plain English is that it is one powerful vacuum that gets the job done!
I have an area rug in my living room and my basement has carpet in the family room and on the stairs. It’s been a dream to vacuum with the DC62. No more lugging the heavy corded vacuum up and downstairs. The DC62 is so light and portable that it’s no big deal to move it between the floors in my home. I don’t dread vacuuming anymore.
Because the DC62 is so light and maneuvarable, it can be used to clean more than just your floor. With a centre of gravity located towards the grip and a detachable long-reach wand, you can pick it up with one hand and clean your ceiling if you wanted to! It works amazing to reach those hard to reach spaces like tops of shelving units or light fixtures. I’m now able to tackle the areas I used to forget about because I couldn’t reach them (or see them). It was dust bunnies galore before I had the DC62!
I also use it to quickly clean my hard floor surfaces! It saves me from having to sweep and it works like a charm for picking up dirt and fine dust. The DC62 has brush bars made of anti-static carbon fibre filaments that in conjunction with the nylon bristles, allow dust to be sucked up by the vacuum.
I was under the impression that cordless vacuums don’t suck up as much dust and dirt as corded vacuums. That is not the case with the Dyson Digital Slim DC62 Animal. It sucks up just as much dust as a corded vacuum.
When the DC62 isn’t in use, I keep it plugged in and ready charge. It comes with a docking station that you can attach to the wall for out of sight, convenient storage. I’m planning to store mine on the wall in our front closet as soon as it’s painted and ready to use. The docking station also holds the additional attachments that come with the DC62. Everything you need is in one spot and you don’t have to search all over the house for a vacuum attachment.
The DC62 comes with the following attachments:
- Mini motorized tool: Great for removing hair and dust from upholstery and awkward spaces
- Crevice tool: Perfect for cleaning tight and narrow spaces
- Combination accessory tool: Awesome for dusting with a nozzle that converts to a brush tool
Once the DC62 is charged, I can clean for 26 minutes before I need to recharge the battery again. That is more than enough time for me to zip through my house and clean the floor and other surfaces. If you have a particularly tough job that needs a little extra, use Boost mode. It gives you 6 minutes of increased suction to tackle the bigger messes.
The hygenic bin is simple to empty with just the press of a button over a garbage bag to release all the dirt. The bin isn’t huge so I notice I’m emptying it a little more often than our old corded vacuum which was a ginormous heavy beast. I can see when it’s getting full and it takes less than a minute to get it emptied and back in action. It’s so nice to not have to deal with replacing a bag! Dyson vacuums are bagless and have permanent filters which saves you money in the long run.
The DC62 comes with a 2 year warranty on parts and labour and can be purchased online for $549. I also saw that they offer free shipping and you can earn 25 AIR MILES reward miles with your purchase. Sweet!
I told my sister she needs to buy a Dyson Digital Slim DC62 Animal for herself. She can borrow mine to clean my house if she wants, but she’s not taking it home! Mine is indispensable and is used on a daily basis.
