Bridging the Distance on #MothersDay #HPmom #HPLovesMoms
I’ve been living in Nova Scotia for the past five years. It’s a pretty area with lots of gorgeous scenery especially along the shoreline. However, it’s not “home” to me. Home is in the Ottawa Valley in Eastern Ontario where I grew up and lived until I was 22. My family is there and sometimes I feel so isolated living so far away. It’s not like it’s an easy car ride for them to come see me. It is literally a full day’s drive and not a very exciting one at that!
I still connect with my family as often as I can and my mom and I talk everyday. We have a very close relationship and I trust her advice 100%. She is always looking out for my best interests. We text, chat on the phone, and at least once a week go on Skype and have a face-to-face chat.
HP Canada provided both my mom and I with an HP Pavilion x360 and the online experience we create is the next best thing to being there in person! I’ll turn the laptop on in the morning and my mom usually calls me on Skype as I’m brewing my cup of coffee. I don’t worry about what my hair or clothes look like because she’s my mom and will love me anyways!
Mother’s day is coming up soon and I’ll be connecting with my mom online via Skype to wish her a happy Mother’s day and tell her I love her. I’ll even give her a virtual hug! It makes me happy knowing that I can see her on her special day and can thank her “in person” for always being there for me.
I’ve already had the chance to talk to other family members via Skype on the HP Pavilion x360. My sister, Jillian, her fiance, Kai, and their French Bulldog, Charlie, dropped by my parent’s house while my mom and I were chatting on Skype. They were amazed at how clear the picture was on the HP TrueVision HD Webcam. I was a little embarrassed because my hair was pulled back in a ponytail and I wasn’t wearing any make-up. I would have dressed up a little had I known my mom was having people drop over!
On my end, they all looked fabulous as always! The picture was vibrant and clear and the sound was sharp thanks to BeatsAudio™ dual speakers. If I closed my eyes and just listened, you would think they were sitting at the kitchen table with me. Maude, my mom’s dog was barking at Charlie and even John could hear her from upstairs at our place!
Being able to connect with my family this way means the world to me. I feel like I’m right there with them laughing and sharing updates on what we’ve all been up to. We can chat for as long as we want without racking up long distance charges or dealing with a poor phone connection.
One of the unique features of the HP Pavilion x360 is its 4-in-1 convertible design. I can use it like a traditional notebook, turn it into a stand, make it tent and even flatten it to a tablet! I’ve never had a PC that was so versatile. It also has touchscreen technology which makes it really easy to use as a tablet or entertainment stand.
My mom had surgery last week and was recovering in bed. She found it very comfortable to use as a tablet and kept herself busy pinning up a storm on Pinterest. We also chatted for a little bit on Skype without her ever having to leave the comfort of her bed. She said the HP Pavilion x360 saved her sanity as she was laid up in bed and not being able to move around much. She was able to stay connected to everyone via Facebook and her close family on Skype.
I’m happy knowing that this Mother’s Day I’ll be able to see my mom and wish her a beautiful Mother’s Day. I’ll be eternally grateful for her putting up with me all these years and I want her to know that I love her very much. I’ll be sending her a card too, but I also want to connect with her “in person” and am thankful for technology today that makes this experience possible.
