Review

The Pirate Fairy is the fifth movie in the Disney Fairies collection and it does not disappoint! We meet Zarina, the keeper of the Pixie Dust, who eventually becomes a Pirate Fairy. Zarina begins to experiment with the Pixie Dust to create a Blue Pixie dust. Unfortunately, her experiments don’t go as planned and she ends up getting into trouble and must leave Pixie Hollow. She comes back and uses the Pixie dust magic to launch an attack on her old home. Tinker Bell and her friends were out of the arena when it happened and weren’t affected by what happened. They were shocked to see it was their old friend, Zarina and an adventure ensues as they go after to get the Pixie Dust.

Tinker Bell and the other pixies learn where Zarina has made her new home: as the captain of a Pirate Ship! They also have to deal with another side effect of Zarina’s homegrown pixie dust: they find themselves with another fairy’s talent instead of their own. That made it more difficult to finish their mission.

We also meet the cabin boy, James, who will eventually be known as Captain Hook. This takes place before he loses hand and we even meet the baby croc who will eventually be the demise of his hand. The baby croc was so cute back then!

My nine year old daughter loved the movie! John even sat down to watch it with us and said he enjoyed it too. If you’re a fan of the either the Disney Fairies, Peter Pan or both, I think you’ll enjoy watching The Pirate Fairy.
