DIY Duck Tape® Spring Vase

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m embracing the arrival of Spring this year after a brutally long Winter. In fact, I’ve almost completed my Spring cleaning and am livening up our living space with some brightly coloured decor. Since I’m frugally minded at heart and enjoy DIY, I’m looking for Spring crafts that I can create at home with materials that are easy to find and inexpensive.  Thankfully, I didn’t have to go any farther than my local Walmart store to find exactly what I was looking for. I discovered Duck Tape® and all the wonderful crafts and  projects that you can make with this versatile tool.

I found an assortment of Duck Tape® at Walmart and right now the designs are Easter and Spring focused. They carry Duck Tape® year round though and you’ll be able to find different designs around the holidays and seasons. In our local Walmart, I located Duck Tape® in the Paint aisle, but it can also sometimes be found in the Craft section too depending on the store. I chose three different colours of Duck Tape®: neon green, neon pink and yellow.

I figured it was good to have a few different colours of Duck Tape® because I’ve got a few different craft ideas in mind that I’d like to make in the coming months. As I mentioned Duck Tape® is so versatile and can be used for many types of DIY projects. You can make Duck Tape® candles, jewelry, boots, picture frames, journals, bags and even quilts. The possibilities are really endless! I decided to make a Duck Tape® Spring Vase to decorate our front enclosed porch. It was easy to make, inexpensive and looks fabulous!

The tools & supplies you’ll need are:

  • Duck Tape® rolls of your choice
  • Ribbon
  • Artificial flowers (or real flowers if you prefer)
  • Tall container (I used a plastic container for cleaning wipes)
  • Scissors

Step One: Starting at the bottom of your vase, carefully wrap the Duck Tape® around the base and cut with a pair of scissors. Try to hold the Duck Tape® as taut as you can so there’s no puckering.

Step Two: Add a second strip of Duck Tape® about an inch away from the first strip. Make sure you cut the tape in the same spot as the first strip so that it lines up evenly. Continue on with the same colour of Duck Tape® until you reach the top of the vase.

Step Three: Take another colour of Duck Tape® and place it in the remaining open strips on your vase. Remember to start and finish in the same spot so that the tape lines up properly.

Step Four: Cut a long piece of ribbon and tie it around the vase in a bow. Trim the ends of your bow to your desired length. I placed my bow at the top of the vase, but you could also tie it around the middle if you like.

Step Five: Bend the stems of your artificial flowers to fit into your vase.

Step Six: Add the flowers to your new Duck Tape® Spring Vase and enjoy the bright colours!

I have lots of extra Duck Tape® and I’m planning on creating more fun crafts with it. This project so simple and even kids could help make it.
