“Mommy, can I wear these woolies forever because I feel so cozy in it?” asked my six year old son, Jacob. As a Florida native it was the first time he could remember wearing merino wool however I used to dress them in it quite frequently year round when my children were babies. It actually helps to keep your baby warm in cold weather and cool and dry when it is hot and humid. Since the temperature had dropped in Florida into the 50’s F and close to freezing at night it was time for them all to wear their Base Layer Merino Wool Long Johns (SRP $39) from Ella’s Wool!
Ella’s Wool was started by Vibeke, a mom who moved from Oslo to New York with her children and couldn’t find the traditional warm clothes of her native land. The wool clothing and accessories from Ella’s Wool is far from the itchy, scratchy wool that I remember. In fact, it is so super soft and comfortable to wear that my children literally do not want to take it off. Offering beautiful and practical items for babies, toddlers and children, Ella’s Wool is made from the best quality merino wool and can be layered under children’s clothing. It is not bulky at all so it is the perfect thin layer. My children actually prefer to wear it by itself when playing around the house or as pajama bottoms. If we are heading out, they can simply put their regular clothes over it and they are quite comfortable and warm.
The Base Layer Merino Wool Long Johns are available for children ages 2-10 years old and we love both the vibrant Ocean Blue and Lilac colors. These children’s leggings are made of a 70/30 blend of organic wool and silk. It feels so luxurious to the touch (I wish these were made for adults too).
For infants, babies, toddlers and children there are lots of great merino and alpaca wool items to choose from at Ella’s Wool. The long john leggings underwear would be perfect layered with the matching wool top underwear. I also love the Saga Merino Wool Dress ($69), the gorgeous Alpaca Baby Mittens ($43) and if I had a baby I would definitely stock up on the Base Layer Wool Onesies ($29).
