I’m feeling the stress right now. Not only do I have to get ready for the holidays, but we’re finally getting our renovations finished on our home. It’s been a long time coming (4 years+) and I was able to convince John we needed to hire someone to help us do them. Just about everyday for the past few weeks, we’ve had people here working. Things are finally starting to come together! Our upstairs bathroom is done and the rest of the rooms are in various states of completeness. I’m at the point now in a few rooms where I can start the fun part….the decorating!
It’s hard for me to leave the house with workers here so I gladly accepted the challenge to try out shopping online at Walmart.ca. I had $100 to spend and I knew exactly what to buy. Our new upstairs bathroom needed some fresh accessories!
On Black Friday, I grabbed my cup of coffee and laptop and started browsing through the Bath Accessories first to see what they had. I discovered a huge selection of products from shower curtains to soap dishes, bath mats and even toilet brushes. I could spend hours on here looking at everything, but I had few specific things in mind so I did a search for “Mirrors” and I narrowed it down to only show the items from Home Decor. My search yielded 79 results! John told me the dimensions to look for and I knew I wanted a neutral colour to match the bathroom. I also wanted to find a mirror for a good price. I ended up selecting this 16×20 Cappuccino Mirror for $34. It was exactly what I was looking for and I can’t wait to see how it completes the look of our bathroom. It’s all done minus the mirror!
Here’s a quick peek at the before and after of the bathroom so far!
I still had some money left over so I picked out a few towels, a Glade scented candle and some hand soap. My order came just shy of the $100 budget at $99.53! Notice the FREE shipping? There’s no minimum purchase for free shipping which is just awesome! I saved myself gas to drive to the Walmart in Greenwood and didn’t have to fight the holiday crowds that are taking over our local retail stores this time of year. I also saved money with Walmart’s outstanding prices. Most of all, I saved time which is more precious than anything. I was able to place my order and continue on working on our house and spending time with my family.
If you haven’t yet shopped at Walmart online, you really should check it out. They’ve revamped their site and it’s extremely easy to use. I love the location-based and personalized services they use. The site knew my location and could tell me the Walmart stores closest to me and whether or not they had the products I was looking at. If the item wasn’t available online, then I would know what store near me carried it. I found most of the stuff I wanted was available online though so I didn’t even need to visit a store.
You can also shop without ever having to create an account by using their guest checkout option. I already had an account so I just logged into the site and it had all my information already plugged in. Checking out was very straightforward with a one-page checkout process. I received confirmation emails of my order and the estimated date of delivery. My order should be in very soon and I can’t wait!
Another neat thing is that you can shop online using your smartphone or tablet thanks to the “tablet and touch” sensibility. I used my laptop to shop this time around, but maybe next time I’ll try shopping on my iPhone. I know I’ll be shopping there again soon because I despise winter driving and I’d rather shop online than brave the horrible road conditions!
Cyber Monday sales are still happening at Walmart online so make sure you check out all the sales! Remember it’s FREE SHIPPING with NO minimum and they are the only retailer in Canada that I’ve seen ever offer that! You could pretty much finish your holiday shopping online and never pay a cent for shipping. Love that!
