Falling for Lancome Artliner 24H
Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of the product for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.
My friends from high school will remember me as the girl who was always fixing her makeup at her locker between classes. I’d apply some fresh lipstick and powder my nose to soak up the shine. They often made fun of me because there was always a huge cloud of powdery dust around my locker. I’m in my mid 30s now and some things have changed while others still remain the same. I still love wearing makeup and how it makes me feel like a better version of myself. The powdery dust cloud is in my bathroom at home vs. the hallway at my high school.
At home on a regular day, I’ll usually only apply some light makeup. I always wear my foundation, eyeliner, mascara with a bit of lipstick or gloss. If I’m going out somewhere special like a wedding or for dinner, I’ll put on the works. I usually stick with the same colours like black eyeliner and mascara and some grey or brown eyeshadow. I’m always open to trying something new though which is why I accepted the challenge to try out a few bold colours of Lancôme Artliner 24H eyeliner.
Lancôme Canada sent me five of their new shades of Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner as well as Hypnôse Star Mascara in Midnight ($33) and Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base in Nude ($28). I was familiar with the brand and knew they had amazing makeup, but had never tried any of these products before. I was in for a real treat!
Artliner is the iconic eyeliner by Lancôme and it’s celebrating its 20th anniversary! In anticipation of this event, Lancôme has released 10 new colours and a brand new formula.
These colours are vibrant, edgy and not what you would expect in a typical eyeliner. The 10 new shades are:
- Black Diamond
I normally only wear black eyeliner so I was excited to see how I would like the new shades. The colours I received are below: Amethyst, Emerald, Black Diamond, Gold and Copper.
Though I love the Black Diamond immensely, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. Lately I’ve been wearing the Amethyst Artliner 24H and I have to say that I love it! It’s such a pretty colour don’t you think?
As I mentioned, this is a new formula that has the Flex Polymer complex. This complex gives the shiny effect and ultra-saturated colour with its high concentration of pigments. The precision felt-tip applicator makes it to draw a straight line that is rich in colour. Some eyeliners you have to apply a few times so you can achieve a dark enough line. I found the Artliner 24H was simple to apply and I only had to draw my line on once.
I also liked that you don’t have to be an expert makeup artist to use it. Even regular people like me can create a clean and precise line on the first try! I’m no makeup expert by any means. I’m just a regular woman who wants to look and feel her best. Products like Artliner 24H make it easy for me to do that!
Artliner 24H is both waterproof and smudge-proof and stays in place all day long. The fact that it doesn’t smudge or fade away is huge for me. I find eyeliner extremely hard to stay fresh looking because of my skin-type. I have very oily skin so after a few hours the eyeliner I applied a few hours earlier begins to fade into nothingness and I have to keep reapplying it. I like that I only have to apply Artliner 24H and then it stays in place!
I also appreciate the vibrance and depth of colour of my new Amethyst shade. I wear glasses so I usually have to apply my eye makeup a little more heavier than normal. I’m very nearsighted so my glasses make my eyes look a lot smaller. I think the colour helped them to stand out more and really pop!
Above are some selfies of me wearing the Artliner 24H in Amethyst as well as the Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base in Nude and the Hypnose Star mascara. I also added some white glittery eyeshadow to match the deep purple eyeliner. I applied all my makeup with my glasses ON which is not an easy feat. However, I’m blind as a bat and can’t see otherwise. I’ve been doing it that way for years so I’m used to it.
I watched a few of the Artliner makeup tutorials on Lancôme’s YouTube page. The one that intrigued me the most was How To Makeup Tutorial for a Two Toned Bold, Cat Eye Look with Lancôme Artliner 24H. It’s such a striking look and is very easy to do with Lancôme Artliner 24H. Watch for yourself and see!
I was inspired to create a mood board featuring everything Amethyst! I’d be really embracing this vivid colour if I were to wear everything on this board at one time. Good thing I love the colour!
You can purchase these new shades of Artliner 24H eyeliner for $37 each at all counters and online at Lancôme.
