Commit to Safe Driving with Celebrate My Drive

Can you guess what the number one cause of deaths of teens is in North America? It’s not a disease….it’s actually car crashes. I’m sure many of us know someone personally or know of someone who has died in a car crash. There’s a stretch of highway between Quebec and Ontario near where I grew that was bad for accidents. I remember a group of five teens died in a crash when I was in high school. My mom says that she had high school friends who died along that same stretch of road when she was in school in the 70s. It’s an issue that has affected many generations.

Last month, I shared with you information about State Farm’s Celebrate My Drive program where they’re goal is to encourage teens to make a lifelong commitment to safe driving. It makes a lot of sense to do this when you’re first learning to drive, but really it can be done at any age. I think we all should really make this commitment and set a good example. Kelly Clarkson has teamed up with Celebrate My Drive and is helping to promote the importance of safe driving.

The deadline to register schools ended on October 17th and now the program is in the commitment phase during National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 18th to 26th)!  It’s time now to support to make a safe driving commitment in support of your favourite school.

Not only is it a great cause, but there’s also prizes! The Grand Prize Package consists of a $100,000 USD grant and a Kelly Clarkson concert for the school for TWO lucky schools. The other prizes aren’t too shabby either: $25,000 USD grants for 90 schools! Wow!

It’s very easy to do and won’t take you more than a minute! Visit Celebrate My Drive on Facebook and like the page to open up the entry form. Fill in your info and the school you are supporting (in both USA & Canada). You can make the safe driving commitment to support your school once per day until the end of National Teen Driver Safety Week.

I encourage you to visit Celebrate My Drive and show your support. I’m looking forward to see which schools win!
