Stokke Scoot Stroller & Infant Softbag Review

Choosing a stroller is a huge decision – much like a car, it is a big purchase you most likely expect to last for a long time.  It’s important to ensure your stroller will not only be durable enough to last the life you expect it to but that it will also meet your needs.

Stokke Scoot Stroller & Infant Softbag Review

When it comes to premium quality baby products, Stokke® is a well known and trusted brand whose vision is “In the best interest of the child”.  They are known for developing products with the purpose of promoting the parent-child connection through strong visual contact and interaction.  The new Stokke® Scoot is a great example of this vision at work, and after several weeks of testing the Scoot Stokke sent me, I found out what all the talk regarding Stokke was about!

The Stokke Scoot is a compact, lightweight connection stroller which boasts an impressive variety of premium features and grows with your child.  It is the perfect stroller for not only getting around the busy streets in an urban setting but is also easy for travelling with.

Retailing at $599.99, the Scoot includes the frame, seat, harness protector, hood with visor, mosquito net, rain cover and cup holder.   The Scoot I received was in Black Melange which I think is such a gorgeously chic colour, although I kind of like all the colour options available.

Stokke Scoot Seat

The comfortable padded seat sits high on the frame which brings your baby up close to help stimulate bonding, interaction and feelings of security when the seat is facing you.  The height of the seat also makes the stroller convenient for use as a highchair when out at cafés or restaurants.

It is easy to change the seat to face either towards the parents or to face out towards the world.  I love that the Stokke Scoot Seat is able to change so easily to meet our needs as the our babies grow and their needs change.  You simple squeeze the release buttons on each side of the seat and it glides right out of the frame, then simply turn the seat to face the other direction and slide it back into the frame.  Keira loves facing out to be able to see everything, but I also love having her face me from time to time.  Not to mention that as soon as baby #2 arrives I will definitely want all the bonding time that the parent facing position allows.

There are also two seat positions – rest (reclined) and active (upright).  To go from active to rest just release the clips on both sides at the back of the seat.  Then to return to active from rest simply reinsert the clips together.  I found this easy to do with with my toddler, and can only imagine it even easier with an infant.  The rest position is nearly flat with just a slight angle and is suitable to use from birth.  It is also a great feature for children who need to nap on the go.  When at rest the seat back is fully enclosed even without the canopy extended and with the hood extended a sleeping child will be protected from both disturbing wind and light. Stokke Seat Hood The hood on the Stokke Scoot is large and features a visor that can be removed if needed with a simple unzip of a zipper.  There is also a breathable mosquito net panel accessible by a zipper which opens a large section of the hood to allow for both ventilation and to allow parents to view baby while in the forward-facing position.  It’s also excellent for a little game of peek-a-boo while on the Go! Stokke Scoot Basket The basket is low down for added stability and accessible from all sides of the stroller which makes it really easy to access.  I love how deep and sturdy the basket is.  I often take the stroller to the grocery store and I’m able to fit a few bags of heavy groceries in the basket without worry about the basket tearing.  There is no way I could carry even a 4L bag of milk in the basket of the first stroller we purchased so this definitely fit a huge need for me.

Stokke® Scoot Handle

The parent handle is adjustable in height which is nice when the parents are of different heights.  Most of the handle is covered in a comfortable foam which helps with not only grip but makes for a much nicer experience on longer walks.   There is also a spot to clip on the cup holder – a feature I couldn’t live without!

Stokke® Scoot Footrest

The Stokke Scoot actually features two footrests with the first footrest built low down into the frame for the forward-facing seat position.  The second footrest is adjustable and can be easily removed or placed at two different heights when parent facing or into position for forward facing until the child is tall enough to use the built-in footrest.

Stokke® Scoot Wheels

The Scoot features soft suspension which makes it easy to push over most surfaces we have test it on including sidewalks, dirt path, gravel and pavement.  One of the first things I noticed (and my sister noticed right away too) was just how smooth the ride is compared to our other strollers and just how light it feels.  The swivelling wheels make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces but they are also lockable for use in snow and rough terrain.

Stokke® Scoot Safety

The brakes are also single action and super easy to use even with flip flops on.  I love that I don’t have to keep trying the brake while pushing the stroller to get it to lock.  Honestly the moment I realized how easy it was to use the brakes I felt like shouting Hallelujah!

The Stokke Scoot has a fully adjustable 5 point safety harness which I’ve found easy for me to use and impossible for my daughter to unbuckle.  It also comes with removable pads for extra comfort.

The Stokke also comes with a mosquito net cover as well as a rain cover which extends over the entire hood and hooks down under the built in foot rest.

Stokke® Scoot Infant Softbag The Scoot Softbag is designed to be suitable from birth to about 6 months.  The interior of the bag features soft high-quality textiles and is nice and roomy, measuring 82 cm long and 30 cm wide.  It also zips open wide to make getting your baby in and out an ease.  The top of the softbag has a drawstring which makes it possible to adjust the head opening and the bottom of the bag has a hard base to secure the baby’s stability. The Scoot Softbag also offers soft padding in all the right places to support and protect a newborn.  The 5-point safety harness also fits through the back of the bag to keep baby secure.ext I’m looking forward to using the softbag with our newborn when she arrives.  I tried the bag with Keira just for the purpose of trying to get pictures with a baby inside it but she thought I was putting her down for a nap and wasn’t having anything to do with it.  Cue epic toddler tantrum.
